OK! the DC/Marvel thingy is over! what did you think of it?

i sort of liked the crossover. However, i have heard that the new character from the crossover, Access, will be getting his own book! That gives writers a way to put both Marvel & DC characters in the same book every month!! Kewl? I think so.
*Marvel/DC Part 2! Look for a new mini series called "All Access" in September. More info to come (of course!)
Oops! i already responded to this once...
if you haven't heard already, They are reprinting the Marvel vs. DC and Amalgram book in two tradepaperbacks (yes, that's all one word :P )
You read this already, but incase you haven't... DC comics will be publishing out "All Access" next month. This will feature artist Jackson Guice (co-creator of X-Force and a popular Action Comics). The four issue mini series will star Access, the multi-company hero from the DC vs Marvel crossover. The first issue is a double sized issue and will feature Superman Spider-Man and Venom. In November they'll put out two issues, Robin, Jublie, Two-Face, and Daredevil will apear in the #2 while #3 has LOTS of superheros from both companies. The last issue is also a double sized issue. It will feature a X-Men and JLA as they find out who is the villian who wants rejoin the two universes. There will be another crossover next summer, this time published by Marvel.
hmm.. i want to see a 2099 / LEGION crossover.. or something like it..
Or perhaps a What If/Elseworlds crossover. What do you think? Or Shadowline (an old Epic line)/Vertigo crossover? Hey the possibles are endless (get it? Sandman... Endless Family).
i read about a What if/Elseworld thing in Wizard. it sounds pretty cool.. but will they do it? i doubt it
I personaly hope so. I forgot to say in the earlier message that Ron Marz will be writting the mini-series.
Here's the latest Amalgam news. There will be 12 one-shots, all new titles,
in April. Some of the other Amalgam characters will reappear in these
issues.
Kurt Busiek will write the Iron Lantern issue. Mark Waid might be
writing one, but I haven't confirmed it yet.
here's an idea. why don't we all think of our own amalgamated characters (or teams for the really ambitious)? i'll try and come up with a few to get started later on after i'm finished reading the comics i haven't gotten around to yet..
I'd like to see a Quasar Spectar Amalgram
I'd like to see a Spawn/Bone Amalgam. We could call it Spoon. More seriously, I'd like to see a Hunter Rose Grendel/Joker Amalgam.
Keith Giffen will write Thorian of the Asgods, an Amalgam of Thor and the New Gods.
I'd like to see a Sin City/Spawn amalgram. You see th poster@that Frank did of Spawn? maybe Frank can@do a curse of spawn comic once.
I'd like to see Linsner (creator of Dawn) to do an Angela story. It isn`t really a crossover, but after I saw the ANgela cover he did for Wizard, I'd like to see how he would do it.
I don't see wantsthe fuss is about Dawn. I checked out the first issue, this is what I found... two guys in mideavil clothing and sword are suiting up. They go into battle in New York filled with demons fighting angels withe the demons winning. The bump into Dawn, who is a half naked bad girl who grabs one of the guys and starts to make love with him while the rest of the earth is facing the end. Now is this just me, or is this bad. Plus, I think if it wasn't for Linsner painting skills his line art would suck. This is my opinion which you are free to disagree with.
I do disagree Dave. I think Dawn is an attempt to create a new mythology.
Linsner gives his views on good and evil and shows what he thinks would
happen if man had the power of angels and demons. Admittedly, he should have
made his story clearer without writing Dawn 1/2 to tell the readers what
it's all about, but he's the only person in comics who does this. If you
know of anyone else in comics who created a mythological/philosophical
comic, please let me know.
As for Linsner's artwork, I love it. I try to get whatever Linsner art
I can find. He rarely disappoints me. You have to look at the art to
understand what the character are feeling. Unlike most comics, Dawn doesn't
rely soly on dialogue for emotional impact. The unspoken thoughts and
feelings Linsner illustrates broadens the story. Most comics (I know
there are good exceptions) just have the characters say something with
a corresponding expression.
This, of course, is just my opinion also.
hey dave, is Frew a mythological/philosophical book?
Yes, Frew is. Spawn is. Maxx is. Sandman is. CreeD is. I could name off lots of others. But your point is made and understood. In the facial expressions, I find it very important to the art. Savage Dragon is an example of this. Erik Larsen does this a lot to express the character feelings since he never uses thought bubbles. This something that I'm trying to do in Aceman. But, what I was saying about his art, although it may protray feelings (which is better than 3/4 of the stuff out there) I still think the quality is poor.
Bat Thing is another Amalgam title. The story is about a man who survives a tragic lab accident but is transformed into half man, half bat. How many Amalgams of Batman do they expect to do? This is the third one.
It's definite: a second Amalgam week is forthcoming, most likely sometime in April. Once again, DC and Marvel will release twelve Amalgam titles (six from each company); while we don't know the names of all the creators, here's the word on the Amalgam releases, as supplied by Evan Meadow via the internet: Challengers of the Fantastic (Karl Kesel, Tom Grummett, and Al Vey); Exciting X-Patrol; Iron Lantern (Kurt Busiek and Paul Smith); Magneto and the Magnetic Men (Tom Peyer and Barry Kitson); Spider-Boy Team-Up (Karl Kesel and Roger Stern); Thorion of the New Asgods (Keith Giffen and John Romita Jr.); Bat-Thing; Dark Claw Adventures; Gen Hex; JLX Unleashed; Lobo the Duck (Alan Grant and Val Semeiks); and Super Soldier Man O'War (Mark Waid and Dave Gibbons). Once again, the Amalgam books will take the place of regular DC Universe and Marvelverse titles on the schedule for one week.
so.. an amalgam of Man-Thing and Man-Bat, huh? interesting.. Lobo the Duck?! why is Marvel bringing back Howard the Duck?! Does Ron Perleman "like" ducks? i thought he was a vulture and would be more attracted to the Falcon.... ugh.
As in the Blue Falcon and Dynomutt?
no.. i meant the Falcon.. a guy often seen with Captain America. but i loves the Blue Falcon and Dynomutt cartoon :P
Did anybody like the second batch of Amalgam comics? I liked Lobo the Duck for sheer silliness. The Adventures of Dark Claw was a good follow-up to the first Dark Claw comic. Bat Thing had more of a Vertigo feel to it. Generation Hex was just a cool concept. I loved the idea of entire lines of comics devoted to Old Western Mutant stories. The rest of the comics were pretty weak.
money's tight so i didn't buy any of them.. :(
me too, I haven't bought comics for over a month now... maybe a month and a half.
I've been buying a spawn here and there, beore which there was a three year drought.
