Aha, finally the first item. As cfadm that created this conf., I just
wanted to note that the exit quote is from the Simpsons, so that it is really
a spoof of comic book endings.

It was all I could come with. :)

Does anyone deny that Frank Miller is all-powerful? DIDN'T THINK SO!!!

#8 of 222 by bruin on Mon Feb 19 17:53:17 1996:

RE #& You must mean the French comic strip Asterix, am I right?

#9 of 222 by carson on Mon Feb 26 21:02:58 1996:

pribly. I never really read it much, but I knew someone while I was
working for the U-M who was a big fan of Asterix.

#10 of 222 by tyche on Tue Feb 27 02:05:50 1996:

#11 of 222 by bone on Fri Mar 22 00:44:29 1996:

helo
hello

#12 of 222 by robh on Fri Mar 22 05:45:08 1996:

Hello bone! Are you named after the comic book character?

#13 of 222 by erekoze on Tue May 21 15:49:01 1996:

I think Asterix is one of the m ost famous , end intersting comics all round
the world, cause is a very funny way to see the history ( and to ridiculize
the greatest heroes) I love Ideafix ( the obelix dog) great!

#14 of 222 by bruin on Tue May 21 18:51:38 1996:

BTW, Asterix made a cameo appearance in the "Cartoon History of the Universe
II" book. An item for discussion of that work will be entered shortly.

#15 of 222 by biohazar on Sun Jun 23 13:57:39 1996:

Hi! I agree with leebru, Frank Miller kick ass. I personaly only read creator
owned books. Sin City is right there on top of the list.

#16 of 222 by mappy on Wed Jul 3 00:02:02 1996:

well, i think Ghost rules...she has an attitude...nobody f#*ks with her. Oh!
My Goddess is pretty awsome too. and witchblade and gen13 eventhough they seem
to be going at a downward pace presently, spawn,etc...ah well, kiddies thats
all for now ;p

#17 of 222 by pez on Sun Aug 18 22:48:14 1996:

i didn't know where else to put this but.. Does anyone know if Wizard#60 is
out yet? i haven't been able to locate it.. :(

#18 of 222 by biohazar on Wed Aug 21 09:48:19 1996:

well, consitering that I got issue #61 of wizard in my hands and #62 is coming
out next week... issue #60 is the big fifth annversary bash and has Hulk on
the cover. It should be in any comic shop (it may be in the back issues
already)
Hey guys, have you noticed that this confer has been slow lately? It seems
that only people that have posted in ther past months are me and pez. I'll
try to update some of the topics with news, but should I bother or should I
just let you people who want news buy wizard?

#19 of 222 by robh on Wed Aug 21 15:28:43 1996:

Truth be told, I haven't had the money to buy comics since spring.

#20 of 222 by pez on Wed Aug 21 17:28:31 1996:

yeah.. i have issue #61 too.. i guess i missed it.. damn.. it was so much
easier with a subscription.. and cheaper

yeah.. i was beginning to wonder why me and bio were on our own conference

#21 of 222 by biohazar on Fri Aug 23 06:34:20 1996:

AH AH! The conference is ours! Pez and I are the new rulers of comics. Ha,
ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
Oh, sorry about that, I just kinda flipped. At least robh is slightly
paying attention. I will have updates on the variest subjects because I read
Wizard, Comic Book Shop News, Im on the Wizard E-Mailing list and the Spawn
E-Mailing list. Plus, I love to talk to Joe (store manager to Daves Comics)
about what going on. Like the news that DC Comics bought Capital City
Distrubution, makers of Advance Comics catalog. More news later.
You see, I want to make my own comic magazine and until that happens, I
will use this confer. How am I doing?

#22 of 222 by pez on Fri Aug 23 08:15:48 1996:

hehehe.. we should get lando off that conf list and put me and bio up there

yeah... as the Supreme Comic Conf Overlord i suggest you all send me money

#23 of 222 by dbassman on Wed Aug 28 20:40:02 1996:

[Aha, ha , ha now im on the bullitin board. I jsut have a question , is
it only us hentais who read Vampirella, or does anyone think that there is
any quality in it. that's all , i leave the rest to bio and pez.

#24 of 222 by biohazar on Thu Aug 29 03:47:44 1996:

Hi Ben, it's about time you posted! (I've been trying to get this guy on for
about a haft of a year. as for the non-Japanese speaking people, henti, means
pervert. What do I think about Vampi? I think that this Bad Girl thing will
only be a fad which will soon die out like the pet rock. If you want to sell
a comic, it can't be based on big breasts and no waistline. Sooner or later
people are goiong to realize that there is no story and they'll read a comic
that isn't condasening to women. I challege anybody that likes one of these
Bad Girl tittles to read Stangers in Paradice. It stars to womem that have
read problems and story. And it has no big breast.]

#25 of 222 by pez on Thu Aug 29 20:18:08 1996:

I am proud to say i have never purchased a Bad Girl comic..
 >8(o[ - <-- that's splinter from TMNT :P

#26 of 222 by bio on Sat Aug 31 06:07:57 1996:

I'm not even going to ask.. maybe I will... nope, on second thought I'm just
going to leave it alone.

#27 of 222 by zabito on Tue Oct 1 20:09:48 1996:

hi ...all of you .....Do you think that the reality of secrets wars in
spider man is just a parenthesis from the real story, i mean ni spider man
the story say that the costume is an a;llien saga that comes from the
moom.........but in secrect wars (if you know the story) says that the
costume saga comes from there..
do you think .that the secrect wars is right......?

#28 of 222 by bio on Wed Oct 2 07:56:02 1996:

After reading all of the secert wars and most of the costume saga and some
of the vemon/carnage/etc, I think... what was the question again?

#29 of 222 by mylo on Thu Oct 24 14:47:51 1996:

Are they going to kill Ghost Rider?

#30 of 222 by pez on Fri Oct 25 20:42:29 1996:

I don't know about killing him but i think he might be headed for Image..
sad.. just sell your characters Marvel... sigh..

#31 of 222 by bio on Thu Nov 7 14:37:13 1996:

no no no no, Marvel is NOT selling any of their characters. Here's the deal.
Marc Silvestri Top Cow pres and co-founder of Image called old Marvel editor
Bobbie Harris and got to talking. That lead to the Devils Riegh crossover with
Top Cow. This will open future crossovers simular to the Marvel/DC crossover.
The rumors are, since Ghost Rider sales are going down, Marvel may do a Jim
Lee/Rob Liefeld (where they hire Image talent to be Creative Director on their
books. this doesn't mean that Marvel sells the their characters or that this
is an Image book. Marvel will distrubute it and get most of the proffets) with
Marc Silvestri. This is still unconfermed and might deal with other books.
I'll try to update you if more is known.

#32 of 222 by pez on Thu Nov 7 23:13:55 1996:

hmm.. what other books aren't selling well but Marvel feels should be
"Image-ized".. just don't use Rob Liefeld..

#33 of 222 by bio on Wed Nov 27 17:51:00 1996:

I don't think there will be many more "Imageized" (as you say) comics in
Marvel's future. Rob is out, Jim Lee is way too busy to do the books he's
doing, Marc Silvestri may do one or two books, but Erik Larsen and Todd
McFarlane WILL never go back to Image. And you can't really call Rob Image,
they kicked his butt out so baddly that he can't even look back.
   Boy is this confer slow...

#34 of 222 by pez on Wed Nov 27 22:59:05 1996:

who is in worse shape, Image or Marvel?

#35 of 222 by biohazar on Tue Dec 3 08:27:46 1996:

financal Marvel is 2 billion dollars in dept. They are doing really bad and
if wasn't for X-Men (or maybe Spiderman too) they would be in deep doo doo.
What did it for them is that they bought out a lot of companies (ie Malibu,
Heroes World, Welsh printing, etc.) in hopes to beat out the compatision...
but it didn't work. Insted, their are a lot of comic book store (like Vault
of the Midnight Comics here in town) who are now refusing to buy Marvel. Image
on the other hand a pretty well off financaly (not that great, but tons better
then Marvel). Of course, the financal setup is different and is controled by
each of the studios... ie WildStorm is doing well, while Highbrow is printing
some of their comics in black and white...
I'll tell you this Marvel will still be this towering beast that will be
around for a while but will be getting smaller and smaller every year. Image
is not the top company, but is getting bigger and bigger each year (no, not
even Extreme leave from Image is a set back. Image is getting more small
independants to join them (see Image News)).
In Frank Millers interview with Wizard months back, he said something like,
"I not going to pick Marvel anymore because they're no longer a threat" (not
a direct quote)
The way I see it, Image is trying to make more and more comics that are not
exactly superhero stories. With comics like Bone (but not for long... see
Image news again), Stangers in Paradise, Astro City, Leave it to Chance,
Hellshock, The Maxx, A touch of Silver, Big Bang Comics, Friend of Maxx,
Wynonna Earp, The Wizard's Tale, A Distant Soil, a long with new comics like
Mage II, Age of Heroes, Adventure of Arron, Soulwing and the Tenth Image is
getting more and more diverse. Marvel doesn't have much in diversity. If
Marvel doesn't try to make book that are beyond the superheros (other then
just doing Star Trek) they will be stuck in the hole that they dug themselfs.
So to answer your question, Marvel is worse shape.

#36 of 222 by pez on Wed Dec 4 23:20:11 1996:

actually when i wrote that question. i knew the answer.

#37 of 222 by biohazar on Thu Dec 5 00:50:00 1996:

Then why did you ask it? Now you made write this big @$$ speech which you
probly didn't read anyways. :P

#38 of 222 by pez on Thu Dec 5 22:46:34 1996:

heh.
last I heard the debt was "only" a million dollars not quite 2..

#39 of 222 by biohazar on Fri Dec 6 09:28:23 1996:

well, that is what a friend said, but he may be wrong, meaning I may be wrong,
but that fact is that Marvel has big dollars in dept.
