Can someone deliver a computer to Westland in the next couple of weeks? We put it together for someone who had a recent leg amputation, and her friend was going to come get it with her van, but the engine blew. It is for the use of her four kids, who are doing a lot of the housework. Her friend's truck also broke, after he picked up a wheelchair from us for her. He will eventually get it working again, but it is 30 miles each way. Does anyone drive there from Ann Arbor (or Ypsi) anyway? Also she could use an electric frying pan since she cannot stand to cook at the stove. Her kids help all they can. We can pick up by bike from westside Ann Arbor. We are using ours. Win95 or Win98 games or encyclopedias would be fun for the kids. They have three games. We put on a bunch of very old free DOS games. They are 9, 11 and 13 (I think). She did not ask for any of this stuff, or for help in pickup. We offered to try to help.

Electric frying pan sounds kinda dangerous with kids in the house.
The kids are cooking at the stove. They are ages 9 through 13. Their mother prepares the food first. With an electric frying pan she could sit at the table and cook. We found a few game CDs, Grolier, some music CDs.
Someone coming from Ypsi tomorrow morning for two computer repairs, also on the freecycle mailing list, offered to deliver the computer to Westland after church (in Plymouth) Sunday. I just had to ask enough people. One computer went to Romulus with a list moderator who sometimes works there. Another list moderator picked up a computer from Milan for repair when she worked there one day. A bunch of really helpful people. The guy getting a video card is bringing some drives to someone else in Ypsi, and also probably giving us a pile of computer parts and maybe two computers. Someone who wanted a laptop power supply will come over and help put one together out of our parts and bring a bunch of computer parts (he fixed computers but apparently does not replace the capacitors on the boards, like Jim does did with a donated board). A surprising number of people in Ypsi have been donating to our project. The computers tend to end up east of there. Tsty ought to clean up this conference. If I email him will my twit filter filter out his email?

The laptop power supply was not hard to build, but the laptop Jim made it for does not even light up so he will attempt to run power into the battery compartment after the battery store tells the owner which pins of the battery the power is on. Power supplies are 19-20V, batteries 11V. The extra 8V is for charging. You can run computers with a 12V power supply if you don't charge the battery. Six more desktop computers showed up this week, not counting the two that just followed Jim home. One has 8 exploded capacitors and a memory card reader.
based on recent bbs entries you can send me email.
but you have to be able to read my repsonses....
