Hi!
I would like to initiate a discussion on the works of the filmmaker
Satyajit Ray. I would be specially interested in your comments if you are not
originally from India and were born after 1970 - which doesnt of course mean
that I wouldnt want to know your feelings otherwise!
Also, if you have any queries about this great filmmaker, I would
try to help you.
Thanks.

I am not familiar with the name. Are there any works that I would have heard of?
Ditto that.
Hi partha chakraborty I'am an Indian. and also familiar with the name satyajit ray I have no queries at the moment t(but I'll make sure at I have a few of them in future
Satyajit Ray was a great Indian filmmaker, now deceased I believe. His movies enjoyed some popularity in the United States in the late 1950's and early 1960's. I've seen the "Apu Trilogy" from that period. The first film of the trilogy, "Pather Panchali", is a moving portrait of village life and of a young boy (Apu) whose talent allows him to escape from it. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much else by Ray, due to lack of opportunity. Film distribution changed during the 1960's, his movies were no longer much imported into the United States. He was quite a prolific director, and by all accounts continued to make outstanding films well into the 1980's, but us folks in the United States haven't had a lot of opportunity to see them. A pity.
Thanks for the info remmers.
this is very old anyone here?
