Welcome to The Cinema Paridiso, which is our little corner on the Internet
to discuss films of all kinds. Film noir, to black comedy to Shakespeare are
all welcome here. I would also like to discuss the various film reviewers and
critics that we all sometimes ask for a recommendation.
My name is Jim, and I am very interested in films from the sound era,
mostly comedies, but sometimes one that is a little on the edge will pique
my interest. One of my very favorite films is I am a fugitive from a chain
gang, starring Paul Muni. I like it because 1. It's a true story, and 2. Paul
Muni's wonderful performance. and 3. It was daring of the studio to tell that
story at that time.
Also here is Richard Wallner, the former Kerouac, who suggested that this
conference be created.
So, enough babble out of me. Sit back, and I'll turn the lights down so
you cannot see anything but the screen. Enjoy!

Hi! I am Richard Wallner (Richard/Kerouac), and this is the Movies conference. The name of this conference comes from an Italian movie called "Cinema Paradiso", which came out several years ago. This was a special movie about a boy who grew up working inside the projection booth of an old movie theater in a small town in Italy. All that he knew and cared about inlife he learned from the movies and from the blind projectionist who became a father figure to him. This conference is for everyone who loves movies, and who-- like the boy in this movie-- sometimes wish that life had the same passions that one can often experience inside a movie theater when the lights go down and the curtains open. The idea is not just to review movies but to discuss film and the ways in which the cinematic arts affect each one of us. So welcome to "Cinema Paradiso". The feature presentation is starting. AND IF WE ARE LUCKY, IT WILL NEVER END!!
Please welcome Colleen Fury (i.e. Giry) as new co-fair witness of this conference! You'll have to guess which one of us is running the projector during your show :)
