1980 SAAB 900 GLE for sale, possibly as parts, possibly to fix up. This car has been in my family since it was new, and has been one of those "wondercars" that are as dependable as a Swiss watch. Now my mechanic at K&N in Ann Arbor tells me that the rust problems under the body have reached the point at which safety is an issue. The car has around 230,000 miles on it (the odometer doesn't work all of the time anymore) and has been through many of the normal replacements: brake pads, exhaust systems, clutches, tires, etc. The engine is still original and is still fine, and has never been repaired. The car has had regular oil changes and tune-ups all its life. Some of you SAAB afficionados out there may even have heard about the dealership where it was purchased and serviced for its first 14 years: Meyer Garage, owned by Jerry Adams in Meyer, Iowa. Jerry owns the oldest SAAB dealership in IA (since 1963) and is located in a town with about 12 houses and one church. There isn't even a post office. His sales and service have been so good over the years that people drive from Minneapolis to get their cars from him-- 125 miles away! He was featured on the "Today" show a few years ago, because he's won all kinds of SAAB awards for sales volume, etc. Anyway, this has been a great car, and I'm sure the parts are worth something to anyone who has an old 900 that they want to fix up. Actually, someone who does body work could restore it and it would still run well. What else? It's a four-speed, has a sunroof, and is light blue. Interested? Call LeAnn at 663-8460 and make me an offer.
