According to a report in the _Detroit Free Press_ (June 1, 1996), Ford is considering dropping the Thunderbird after the 1999 model year, meaning another long-standing nameplate is doomed to die. Your thoughts about the imminent end of another automotive era.

Good Riddance. maybe. The Thunderbird has not been an exciting car since the 1957 model came out.
on the other hand, ford may decide to revive it fifteen years later. look at the aberration general motors is now calling the impala, after several years of non-production.
