Grex Cars Item 114: 1983 saab needs help

   does anybody know how to open the hood on a 1983 saab once the
hood-release cable has broken or become otherwise disconnected?  i need
to charge my battery and do some other under-the-hood work, but i have
to get the hood open first.

Here's the answer I posted in diy:

The hood wouldn't open on my truck at one point.  I forget the problem -- it
may have been one of rust, but anyhow, pulling on the hood release did   
nothing.  Arthurp got it open by reaching through the grill with a screwdriver
and pushing on the thing that the hood release cable connects to.

   thanks.  a friend came over and we got it open by a similar method.
