Yes, bike.

I object to the header of this message....;-)

#4 of 79 by ragnar on Tue Sep 10 04:08:48 1991:

I was waiting for that!
Maybe I've just watched too many classic race summary shows on ESPN, but
it just don't sound right otherwise!

#5 of 79 by love on Sun Mar 22 19:52:08 1992:

LOVE!

Old, silly, and little responded to items will be dying soon.
If you want to know what's in jeopardy, "browse retired".
I'll retire them tonight and kill them later.

#7 of 79 by tired on Mon May 17 02:49:17 1993:

Is there really any place worth driving to? Why do you spend so much
time sitting around if you like to drive or driving around if you really
do not like to drive?

#8 of 79 by scg on Sun Jul 11 03:17:10 1993:

I drive if I have to get somewhere with something really big, or sometimes
if the weather is really bad, or if I have to get somewhere really far away,
and either can't arrive there sweaty, or have to get there fast. If I have
the choice, however, I will usually chose to bike. I actually like doing that.

#9 of 79 by ragnar on Wed Jul 21 02:44:28 1993:

What keeps me from biking to a lot of things regularly is not wanting to
arrive all sweaty. There's the whole river valley between myself and UofM
Main (i.e. North) Campus, and I can't stand myself through a 12-hour day
when I *start out* sweaty.

#10 of 79 by n8nxf on Wed Jul 21 12:01:52 1993:

If you shower at least once a day and carry clean, dry clothes with you
it's really no problem at all. I ride from Miller - Newport to Industrial
- Eisenhower every day and have to deal with vendors on a regular basis,
not to mention the rest of the engineering dept. here.

#11 of 79 by nearchos on Mon May 16 00:08:28 1994:

I drive only 6-7 miles a day and it's killing...I hata traffic...but what can I
do. Athens is really jammed, whatever transportation you use.

#12 of 79 by moh on Thu Jul 14 16:06:19 1994:

All this talk about hiking and biking..makes me sick..:(

#13 of 79 by davel on Fri Jul 15 02:37:54 1994:

Really? Why? Besides that this conference may not be the best place for it.

#14 of 79 by nephi on Sat Jan 21 09:13:54 1995:

Biking the 6-7 miles will only take you about a half-hour, nearchos.
When you bike, traffic becomes much less of a factor....

Why, davel, is this not a good conference to talk about biking as an
alternate form of transportation?

#15 of 79 by skin1 on Mon Feb 13 21:03:47 1995:

take a hog

#16 of 79 by mpiery on Sat Mar 25 19:12:29 1995:

Philip, do you mean to ride a pig or a Harley? Not that it matters much.
Besides, all bikes are a pain in the a__. Anyone who doesn't believe me,
try driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco on a bike and tell me that they
can feel their...anything between the waist and the knees. Those who believe
that motorcycles are freedom on the American road never had to drive one on
a daily basis. Nor have they landed on their heads at 45 mph. I still
ride, but it isn't a pleasure. I ride because its cheap. My bike cost
$400.00 and the insurance is only $65.00 per year. As much as I bitch and
moan, at least it's better than public transportation.

#17 of 79 by davel on Thu Apr 6 01:17:31 1995:

Marc, I'm not criticizing what you say except one picky little point:
at least one friend found his *health* insurance premiums boosted somewhat
because of motorcycling. I don't know whether this is typical. (Or, now
that I think of it, was it life insurance? Health, I think.) Vehicle
insurance isn't all there is; but I sure wish my auto insurance were only
$65.00!

#18 of 79 by n8nxf on Thu Apr 6 12:20:48 1995:

Back in the early 80's I was run over by a *hearse*. (Talk about signs...)
My $55 motorcycle insurance did not cover anything medical. Since the
hearse driver was at fualt, they payed medical expenses, lots time wages,
etc. When I talked to my AAA auto insurance agent, he told me that they
would cover me if noone esle did, even though the motorcycle was not
insured through them, only my car! AAA didn't offer motorcycle insurance
back then.

#19 of 79 by nate on Wed Jun 28 04:54:51 1995:

I think insurance is a scam...you can imagine my shock when I found out
that a *Saturn coupe* has a better insurance rating than my new 740.

#20 of 79 by scott on Sun Jan 28 00:28:30 1996:

Hey, if carson is now fw, why doesn't he put his name in the welcome screen?

#21 of 79 by carson on Sun Jan 28 17:16:33 1996:

ssh! no one's supposed to know!

darn. there goes my cover.

#22 of 79 by davel on Sun Jan 28 22:51:55 1996:

Why does it still say ragnar, when by now there's an entirely different ragnar
on Grex?

#23 of 79 by carson on Tue Jan 30 02:20:04 1996:

ok ok already. I'll change it.

#24 of 79 by davel on Tue Jan 30 12:59:07 1996:

Hmm. I was expecting something new added, maybe indicating who the FW *is*.
<complain complain complain>

#25 of 79 by bruin on Wed Jan 31 01:09:43 1996:

BTW, congratulations on the appointment of "Your four wheeled host: carson."

#26 of 79 by scott on Wed Jan 31 01:33:47 1996:

Carson was just up to his usual Annoying FW tricks. :)

#27 of 79 by davel on Wed Jan 31 12:46:48 1996:

BTW, Carson, thanks for linking in those two Agora items. Both were
appropriate & interesting, & it's been a while since I've joined Agora, so
they were certainly new to *me*. And now they won't go away when Agora does.

#28 of 79 by carson on Wed Jan 31 14:14:59 1996:

That's the plan. I have a couple more that I plan to bring over, but
I'm not planning on doing it all at once.

Any suggestions on what I should add to my 95 Firebird for power. It
has a 3.2 liter engine that needs a little help.

#37 of 79 by keesan on Mon Jan 12 01:45:31 1998:

Concerning bicycle transportation, my roommate, who biked 15 miles a day all
winter, said you only sweat if you bike fast (or walk fast). Slow down and
enjoy the ride.

#38 of 79 by void on Mon Jan 12 08:29:10 1998:

i'm giving serious thought to gettng a bicycle and saving my car
for long trips.

#39 of 79 by keesan on Mon Jan 12 16:49:52 1998:

Would you like a cheap one? We have extras, as does a friend. The only
drawback of biking that I know of is you get hungry and have to eat more.
