Yesterday, I sent out a letter to all the book publishers listed in the Yellow Pages, inviting them to join Grex and especially to join the books conference. I am hoping that many of them will join us here. This is the item for book publishers to tell us about their wares.

My sister and I own and operate R-Squared Press. We recently published our first book, _A Birthmother's Book of Memories_. This book is a fill-in-the-blanks book that helps birthmothers in open adoptions tell their children about the birthmother and their birthfamily. It's a hardcover book, with an attractive four-color cover and costs $16. We also offer a companion product, The Adoptee's Family Tree. This full-color 16x24-in. poster has spaces for the adoptee, the birthfamily, and the adoptive family. Projects in the works include _The Romanchik Family Slovak Cookbook_ and Dan's Guides to Ann Arbor.
I have self published two books of my own poetry on my "Digital
Detritus"
lable. Dan I have seen your posting on the small publishers e-mail list.
danr, how is the book publishing business going? Any new offerings? (Had you considered publishing other authors' works?)
As you all can tell from the length of time between responses, I haven't been a real active participant in this conference. :) Like any business, I'm finding out that publishing takes a lot of time. I think part of the reason that things have not gone as quickly as I would have liked is that I don't have enough time to devote to the business. It also takes more money than I thought. Another reason I think we haven't been more successful is that we haven't spent much on adver- tising and other types of promotion. We're still plugging away at it, though. In fact, we're just now getting ready to publish our second and third titles. These are also books related in one way or another to adoption.
