Grex Books Item 13: Looking for a particular book, but can't find it?
Entered by danr on Sun May 15 20:37:27 UTC 1994:

My sister and I formed a small publishing company, R**2 Press,
in January. Our first book, _A Birthmother's Book of Memories_,
written by my sister and designed by yours truly, is due from the
printer this Friday!

Now, we're looking for other projects. We've got a bunch in
mind, but I'd like to get your ideas. What kind of book have
you been looking for, but have been unable to find?

I'd love to talk to you about this enterprise. One of my back-burner projects
is starting a small publishing company/ authors' co-op for scholars in the
pagan community whose work is too scholarly/advanced for Llewelyn or the
mainstream press but too accessible/colloquial for the university press. I
know nothing about what goes into creating such an entity.

Anyway, you have an interesting title. I bet there's some history there...
Tell us a story, Unca Dan?

Well, my sister, who is my partner in this enterprise, gave up a baby
for adoption nine years ago. It is an open adoption, meaning that she
still sees her child and the kid knows that my sister is his
birthmother. This book is a fill-in-the-blanks book that helps
birthmothers in open adoptions tell their children about themselves
and their birthfamilies.

It really is a nice book, if I do say so myself. We hired a very good
illustrator to do the cover illustration and a border for the inside
pages. It's a hard cover book and the cover is full-color.

The books aren't coming till Monday now. I'll bring one along to the
next walk and/or board meeting. You can see it then.

oh, goody, goody. Gee, maybe I could get a copy for my biological mother.
Well, maybe not. I do like the idea.

I know of a woman recently contacted by the daughter she gave up for adoption
at birth; the daughter is now grown. They are corresponding now; would this
book be appropriate for either of them?

I would like info on publishing my poetry. Poetry doesn't really
sell, so it would have to be at a reasonable cost.
