I just finished reading Heinlein's Friday. The book was a huge, huge let down. It starts off with a bang and then quickly fizzles out into excess verbiage and idiotic descriptions - very irritating! It's set in a dystopian future with big conglomerates running the show, with your usual battalion of politicians, plague, and distant star systems which are the future off humanity. The only good thing about the whole book is that it starts off fantastically and picks up in-between, just a wee bit. I generally like Heinlein for his ideas, but he has a bad habit of trying to convert his story into a sermon on howto reform the world (okay i do it as well, but then i'm not paid to jaw and you can always tune out <g>) but the great start is the trap and it hold you right up to the miserable end. And the ending is not happy! Ugh!
