Well, since I'm still the only one here, I guess I'll start.

Hideaway. Okay acting. Plausible plot. Neat story. B-.

Outbreak was pretty good. It was evident that they had good cooperation
from the CDC, although the character portrayed by Cuba Gooding was quite
a stretch.

Madness of King George. Excellent acting, interesting writing, funny too.
An A in my book certainly.

#5 of 306 by robh on Wed Mar 22 15:33:29 1995:

Strawberry and Chocolate, A-. My girlfriend wanted to see it, though
we had *no* idea what it would be about. Turned out to be a very
funny, moving film about a young man in Cuba who befriends a
homosexual artist who's very religious. (Three strikes against him,
according to the Communists there)

I saw _Triscilla, Queen of the Desert_ also, but I would rate it a B.
"interesting characters" were just about all the plot that

what are everyone's votes for the best & worst movies of this year?

#12 of 306 by general on Thu Mar 23 23:05:37 1995:

Best. Forrst Gump.
Forrest Gump.

#13 of 306 by anig on Thu Mar 23 23:58:41 1995:

Best-- Legends of the Fall
Worst-- ummm...Four Weddings and a Funeral because I slept through
the last 20 minutes of it (I was at a friend's {flirt or perfect}
house).

#14 of 306 by remmers on Fri Mar 24 11:43:41 1995:

Best: Pulp Fiction.
Worst: Dunno, don't think I've seen it.

#15 of 306 by lynne on Sat Mar 25 01:22:04 1995:

Best: Depends on whether you like "feelgood" or violent. Personally,
I liked Pulp Fiction.
Worst that I saw this year...Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. As a friend
remarked, the only real reason to see this one was Kenneth Brannagh,
sans shirt.

#16 of 306 by omni on Sat Mar 25 03:01:17 1995:

 Best Movie: Forrest Gump
 Best Actor: Tom Hanks

#17 of 306 by nephi on Sat Mar 25 05:14:00 1995:

Deloris Claiborn. *Excellent* movie. Flawless acting. Great plot.
A real emotional rollercoaster. I was definitely able to suspend my
disbelief. A definite *must* *see*. A+.

#18 of 306 by omni on Sat Mar 25 16:56:19 1995:

Glad you liked the movie; the book, which I just finished, sucked.

#19 of 306 by suzi on Sun Mar 26 04:07:46 1995:

Worst: Pulp Fiction

#20 of 306 by bmoran on Sun Mar 26 04:52:06 1995:

Only: Pulp Fiction

#21 of 306 by janc on Sun Mar 26 21:26:29 1995:

Dunno. Pulp Fiction had some fine dialogue, but I can't say I *liked* it.
Forrest Gump was nothing. I'm sure I must have seen some film I really
liked this year, but it doesn't seem to be on the academy ballot.

#22 of 306 by nephi on Mon Mar 27 04:06:29 1995:

Who said it had to be on the academy ballot?

#23 of 306 by janc on Mon Mar 27 04:52:19 1995:

Not I.

#24 of 306 by flem on Mon Mar 27 07:12:44 1995:

Best: Tie, between Forrest Gump and Little Women.

#25 of 306 by remmers on Mon Mar 27 12:46:51 1995:

"Little Women" was quite good -- I wouldn't mind seeing it win a few
things.

Perhaps the worst 1994 movie I saw -- among those with any pretensions
at all -- was Robert Altman's "Ready to Wear" (also known by a French
title that I'm not sure of and so won't attempt to reproduce), a satiric
view of the fashion industry that mostly fell flat. Wonderful cast,
largely wasted. Too bad -- Altman is a fine director when he's got
good material, but this was a dud (he's made others).

#26 of 306 by md on Mon Mar 27 13:50:07 1995:

I saw "Only You" yesterday. Marisa Tomei is mediocre in this
one. It must be a terrible thing to have your one huge success
at the very beginning of your career (Mona Lisa Vito in the
farcical "My Cousin Vinnie") and spend the next X years trying
to live up to it.

#27 of 306 by birdlady on Tue Mar 28 17:25:33 1995:

I'm going to use the standards and say that two great movies were "Natural
Born Killers" and "Pulp Fiction". I do, however, love "The Lion King". It's
a movie thatt can be enjoyed by kids and adults because it's a wonderful
story full of humor and drama.

#28 of 306 by peacefrg on Tue Mar 28 19:03:04 1995:

We just saw Highlander III.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Don't rent it!!
We MST3Ked the whole thing. It sucked.

#29 of 306 by nephi on Tue Mar 28 21:33:17 1995:

_The Lion King_ just seemed like a cheap imitation of _Hamlet_ to me.

#30 of 306 by birdlady on Tue Mar 28 22:52:31 1995:

You're comparing Lion King to Hamlet? HOw interesting...I never thought of it
that way. :) Peacefrg...you actually rented Highlander 3? hahahahahahahaha
  ;) *wink*

#31 of 306 by chelsea on Wed Mar 29 12:58:23 1995:

"Dolores Claiborne" B The ensemble cast does an incredible job
of developing real people out of a story line that is as old as
the hills and without any real surprises. Those going to expect
typical King humor and thrills will disappointed. Those who
consider Jennifer Jason Leigh one of the best actors alive will
have their opinions confirmed, yet again.

#32 of 306 by peacefrg on Wed Mar 29 16:43:04 1995:

Yeah, I noticed the Lion King vs. Hamlet thing the first
time I saw it. Me and wolfmage were talking about that.
But, I love hamlet and I LOVE the lion king. There was much
more imagry in the movie than just the basic Hamlet story line.

#33 of 306 by bry on Wed Mar 29 17:59:36 1995:

We rented SPEED the other day. Eeeh, pas bien, pas mal. One of the most
entertaining things I saw in the film was the tourist bus passenger role
played by the actor who portrayed Cameron in "Ferris Bueller..."
...I thought that was kinda neato. A bit role, not very dynamic, but still
a refreshing change of pace. Gee whiz, I even forget his name, now.
Hmmm, well.. he has been a very unobtrusive talent. I hadn't seen him at
all since "..Bueller.." It was cool to see him again.

#34 of 306 by raven on Wed Mar 29 20:02:40 1995:

Pulp fiction was by far the best movie I saw last year.

#35 of 306 by spartan on Wed Mar 29 20:17:06 1995:

re#33: Cameron's real name is Alan Ruck. He was also in Star Trek
Generations.

#36 of 306 by philoman on Wed Mar 29 20:42:06 1995:

Before "Pulp Fiction" cam around, my fave movie was "Excalibur.." good flick,
for rental, or just sitting back and watching A&E...

#37 of 306 by peacefrg on Thu Mar 30 16:29:13 1995:

I've never seen excaliber. I'll have to pick it up one day

#38 of 306 by lynne on Sat Apr 1 19:04:04 1995:

Question: I haven't seen Highlander 2 (because everyone said it was terrible)
or Highlander 3 (see handle). I saw and enjoyed the first one, but the ending
seemed fairly conclusive...how did they manage to extend the concept to even
one sequel, let alone two?

#39 of 306 by janc on Sun Apr 2 03:25:20 1995:

Tank Girl: Barbarella for the 90's. Mildly entertaining if you are careful
to go in expecting absolutely nothing.
