Have seen any movies lately? You have? Good! Tell us about them so we know if we should go watch them, or avoid them like the Plague.

Well, since I'm still the only one here, I guess I'll start. Hideaway. Okay acting. Plausible plot. Neat story. B-.
Outbreak was pretty good. It was evident that they had good cooperation from the CDC, although the character portrayed by Cuba Gooding was quite a stretch.

Madness of King George. Excellent acting, interesting writing, funny too. An A in my book certainly.
Strawberry and Chocolate, A-. My girlfriend wanted to see it, though we had *no* idea what it would be about. Turned out to be a very funny, moving film about a young man in Cuba who befriends a homosexual artist who's very religious. (Three strikes against him, according to the Communists there)

I saw _Triscilla, Queen of the Desert_ also, but I would rate it a B. "interesting characters" were just about all the plot that
[cont] that there was. But the costumes were just as amazing was popcorn wrot e

Anyone who wants to learn about the true disasters of
human contact and misunderstanding in regard to the
"learned ignorance" of an institution such as the
British Social Services, and also witness the tangible
pure, undaunted, and oblivious to consequence RAGE of
a mother struggling to keep her children from being
stripped away, SEE THIS MOVIE IF YOU CAN.
Ladybird, Ladybird. (Social Workers or Soc.Work Students? SEE IT.)
what are everyone's votes for the best & worst movies of this year?
Best. Forrst Gump. Forrest Gump.
Best-- Legends of the Fall
Worst-- ummm...Four Weddings and a Funeral because I slept through
the last 20 minutes of it (I was at a friend's {flirt or perfect}
house).
Best: Pulp Fiction. Worst: Dunno, don't think I've seen it.
Best: Depends on whether you like "feelgood" or violent. Personally, I liked Pulp Fiction. Worst that I saw this year...Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. As a friend remarked, the only real reason to see this one was Kenneth Brannagh, sans shirt.
Best Movie: Forrest Gump Best Actor: Tom Hanks
Deloris Claiborn. *Excellent* movie. Flawless acting. Great plot. A real emotional rollercoaster. I was definitely able to suspend my disbelief. A definite *must* *see*. A+.
Glad you liked the movie; the book, which I just finished, sucked.
Worst: Pulp Fiction
Only: Pulp Fiction
Dunno. Pulp Fiction had some fine dialogue, but I can't say I *liked* it. Forrest Gump was nothing. I'm sure I must have seen some film I really liked this year, but it doesn't seem to be on the academy ballot.
Who said it had to be on the academy ballot?
Not I.
Best: Tie, between Forrest Gump and Little Women.
"Little Women" was quite good -- I wouldn't mind seeing it win a few things. Perhaps the worst 1994 movie I saw -- among those with any pretensions at all -- was Robert Altman's "Ready to Wear" (also known by a French title that I'm not sure of and so won't attempt to reproduce), a satiric view of the fashion industry that mostly fell flat. Wonderful cast, largely wasted. Too bad -- Altman is a fine director when he's got good material, but this was a dud (he's made others).
I saw "Only You" yesterday. Marisa Tomei is mediocre in this one. It must be a terrible thing to have your one huge success at the very beginning of your career (Mona Lisa Vito in the farcical "My Cousin Vinnie") and spend the next X years trying to live up to it.
I'm going to use the standards and say that two great movies were "Natural Born Killers" and "Pulp Fiction". I do, however, love "The Lion King". It's a movie thatt can be enjoyed by kids and adults because it's a wonderful story full of humor and drama.
We just saw Highlander III. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Don't rent it!! We MST3Ked the whole thing. It sucked.
_The Lion King_ just seemed like a cheap imitation of _Hamlet_ to me.
You're comparing Lion King to Hamlet? HOw interesting...I never thought of it that way. :) Peacefrg...you actually rented Highlander 3? hahahahahahahaha ;) *wink*
"Dolores Claiborne" B The ensemble cast does an incredible job of developing real people out of a story line that is as old as the hills and without any real surprises. Those going to expect typical King humor and thrills will disappointed. Those who consider Jennifer Jason Leigh one of the best actors alive will have their opinions confirmed, yet again.
Yeah, I noticed the Lion King vs. Hamlet thing the first time I saw it. Me and wolfmage were talking about that. But, I love hamlet and I LOVE the lion king. There was much more imagry in the movie than just the basic Hamlet story line.
We rented SPEED the other day. Eeeh, pas bien, pas mal. One of the most entertaining things I saw in the film was the tourist bus passenger role played by the actor who portrayed Cameron in "Ferris Bueller..." ...I thought that was kinda neato. A bit role, not very dynamic, but still a refreshing change of pace. Gee whiz, I even forget his name, now. Hmmm, well.. he has been a very unobtrusive talent. I hadn't seen him at all since "..Bueller.." It was cool to see him again.
Pulp fiction was by far the best movie I saw last year.
re#33: Cameron's real name is Alan Ruck. He was also in Star Trek Generations.
Before "Pulp Fiction" cam around, my fave movie was "Excalibur.." good flick, for rental, or just sitting back and watching A&E...
I've never seen excaliber. I'll have to pick it up one day
Question: I haven't seen Highlander 2 (because everyone said it was terrible) or Highlander 3 (see handle). I saw and enjoyed the first one, but the ending seemed fairly conclusive...how did they manage to extend the concept to even one sequel, let alone two?
Tank Girl: Barbarella for the 90's. Mildly entertaining if you are careful to go in expecting absolutely nothing.
