It seems of late it's been "fashionable" internally to dis the USA on many occasions. I just view this as an indication that the democracy is working. We agree to tolerate one another ... and live with our neighbors opinions ... but we are absolutely free to gripe about it! And, that we have so much time to do so is an indication that times are good. Happy 4th!
I celebrated 4th of July in Ireland. There were American flags all across the country (except N Ireland)
That's interesting. I have never seen a country celebrate another's national holiday.
In a nod to Ireland, here in the US we definitely celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. I don't think it's recognized as a holiday by any level of goverment but at one company where I worked (owner of Irish descent) while it was not recognized as a day off actual productivity was not expected and even discouraged!
