Grex Agora Item 15: Becoming an active user again

Well I was gone for 1.5 years, but I'm back.

I really hope to become an active regular user of grex's shell server and an
active member of the community.  Mental health has been my challenge.  I'm
limited by periods of severe depression where I isolate from everyone.  This
month I will make a concerted effort to remain active here.  I just cleared
my mailbox which had about 700 spam emails in it.  I missed an email from
another user here which I feel bad about.

Even thought the past year and a half has been rough for me, I have made some
progress learning the command line.  I have written some more shell scripts
using features like functions and reading in configuration files using the
source command, etc.  I have also been learning more about the shell
environment and I have been figuring out how to customize it by changing items
in the bashrc and profile files, such as the prompt variable.

To stay active, I hope this time I can make a few friends and learn new ways
to stay in touch with them.  I still have that guestbook file in my home
folder that I made when I didn't know any other way for users to contact me.
Now I know how to read my mail and reply.  Of course I know how to post to
the conference, but I still user my web browser to read it since I'm not
100% comfortable with textual browsing.

I'm glad you are feeling better and continue to do so. 
Getting out of your comfort zone sounds like a great plan.

tfurrows, I hope to get in touch with you here on grex.  We both have been
checking out the party chat program and perhaps tomorrow afternoon sometime
we will finally cross paths there.  I am also not in Michigan, I am actually
from Toronto, Canada!  Talk soon.
