If you had as much money, time, space, and resources as you could possibly want, with which to build yourself a dwelling of some sort, what would you do? Where would it be? What would it look like? What would you furnish it with?

(Do not respond to this item, it will only feed the corruption.) You've been spending too much time in Tom's class, dear.
It would be huge and exist in 4 different dimentions, utilizing free-form mixed with non-Euclidian Mathmatics. All the windows would have Gable-End returns, somehow, and the roof would be painted bright shades of slightly phosphoresent pink, so that Aliens can spot it easier. The interor would be made of legos. Sorry, Snowth, I'm already corrupted, so I had to respond....
Personally - and anyone who knows me can stop listening at this point, cuz I've raved about it too much already... Personally, I want to build a room out in the middle of a desert or the Arctic tundra, far away from any light pollution. I would make the cieling out of one-way mirrored glass, and cover the walls in mirrors. The only furniture would be a soft and comfortable round oriental rug in the center, a teapot with lots of hot tea, several incence burners, and a blank book and pen. Then, I'd wait for the stars to come out...
Hmmm...where do I throw these rocks when I visit orinoco? <shakes head> damn...
Heck, it'd be kind of fun with broken glass too, 'cuase you'd get skewed and scattered reflections, and little shards of sky poking off in funny direction.
Shake down the HOUSE!!!!
I'd like a house in the shape of a Klein bottle, so I wouldn't need a door to go in and out. I like the glass idea, so I suppose it could be a glass bottle.
Wouldn't it get a tad drafty?
Maybe a little - best not to stay too near the opening. I'd be the only one on my block to have one. It would be worth it.
Most likely it would. I know I'd have to come visit sometimes.
Next to Bobbie Fischer's Rook House?
If my house was shaped like a bottle, it would have to have the opening facing upwards, so anytime there was a good wind it would go <WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!>
Now _that_ would get drafty. But the walls would resonate, which'd be interesting
Drafty shmafty, I'd make sure I had a <lot> of blankies. Plus, the hole could double as a chimney, and you're house would make an entirely different noise each time one lit a fire.
Yer right, that'd be great.
Yep.
Oh cool! So can I practice shot-put in your house, teflon? :-) (but seriously, folks, it does sound cool...)
Maybe. Depends on the weather.
And wheither the aardvarks (aardvarks. Lots 'o aardvarks) are on strike. That could have a large affect on the whole situation.
Hmmmm. I want a house with prizm windows. It must be octagonal, topped with
a circular geodezic dome done in staned glass. there will be glass fishtank
columns in the house, with coi and other beauties in it (a different kind in
each living strata of column) The cupolae will have a battle twinkie hand
sculpted in bronze, with wings pointed in the northerly direction.
There will be an arch made of pretty stone above the front door, proclaming
one of my greatest spurr of the moment quotes.(perhaps something to do with
aardvarks) It will have beaten earth floors, and sheepskin rugs.
(that way I can make mudpies under the piano) There will be a recessed space
in the middle that will have a futon with a hinged frame, which will lift to
reveal a secret tunnel that goeth to the super secret {<scribbled and
expurgated>]. The art room will be on the second floor under the dome, but
in places it will have strong glass floors (if they can do it in rome, whi
can't i/). There will be a small room off to the side for bathroom purposes,
and the rest will have a computer area, kitchen area, and social area right
in the middle.
Home sweet home
