Well, you've proved it already:

charmed 2 (aruba)
raining 2 (albaugh)
balance 0 (aruba)
baloney 1 (albaugh)
Since chintzy and borscht have no letters in common and the sum of
their scores is 7, all correct letters must come from one of them.
So much can be concluded from other scores:
score(charmed) = 2 => score(ch-----) = 2
score(raining) = 2 => score(--in---) = 2
score(balance) = 0 => score(b------) = 0
score(baloney) = 1 => score(b-----y) = 1
And from the last two we can conclude that score(------y) = 1.
So score(chin--y) = 5, which means the other two letters come from
borscht. So the word is chinchy.
