Hello, hello, I do hope I am not interrupting a tender moment here, but I'd
like to make a request for a conference on Japanese animation and comics
(respectively: anime and manga) with the following name: Manganime.cf.
The conference is meant to bring about discussions on the various aspects
and preferences of the participants regarding these subjects. Also expe-
riences regarding or opinions about the way the anime and manga are
made, translated, distributed, etc..
I am thanking you in advance. Could you let the conference begin on the 12th
of december? Multiple thanks!!
Sayonara,
Legend.

With the +new+ Japanese God Zilla From Outer Space in release
as of a day or two ago ... it's a timely suggestion.

Mark -- two questions:
Would this fit into the arts conference? I'd worry that a conference
as specialized as one for Japanese animation and comics might not get
enough traffic to keep a discussion going.
Also, if you do think this warrants a new conference, who would you
like to be the fair witness or fair witnesses?

Konnichi wa Valerie!
This would indeed fit into the arts conference! (since I am also at a loss
as to where else!) I do hope the new conference will draw lots of reactions,
but how can one find out if not by trying? Is there perhaps a way of getting
to know something like this in advance?
With regards to your second question: huh?...witnesses?
Do you mean someone who is in charge of the conference? One other thing:
I am not a paying member. Could this stand in the way of me eventually full-
filling perhaps the function of witness as I have not every function of
cyberspace within my grasp?
Sayonara,

Membership is not required of FWs. Both members and nonmembers do not
have every functionn of cyberspace within their grasp. There is a simple
set of commands available to FWs for managing their cfs - they can
write the opening and closing heads/feet.

Where can I find this set of commands? (perhaps one of the conferences?)

Hello there.
After a few weeks on Grex I'm beginning to develop an attitude.
What is the case?
a. I've created my first item
b. It's common sense there's never enough.
When will I be satisfied?
I want to start a second item.
This should be called Undutchables and Samaricans.
What then, should be all about?
Double Dutch (nonsense in language)
Peculiarities of people around the world.
With, ofcourse, this restriction:
No racism, no sexism, no prejudice, no bigottism.
Things in it should deal with funny experiences around the
world. Could anyone thing of a better pun for a title?
And where should this be listed?
Looking forward for support and/or suggestions.
Ciao, Rick.

There is a "travel" conference. These items would go nicely in there, no?

Re 83: I'm a bit confused about your response. Did you mean that you
will enter some Japanimation items in the arts conference, to see if
there's enough interest in creating a Japanimation conference? Or did
you mean you want me to go ahead and create the new conference?

Dear Valerie,
Your second assumption is the correct one. I was only wondering (and thereby
hinting) if there was an easy way of checking the interest in it. Your second
hinting) if there was an easy way of checking the interest in it, Your first
assumption however is a good idea, so please postpone creating the conference
until I have checked the interest in the arts conference!
C you,
Legend.

My experience has been that the only way to guage interest in a conference
is to build it and see if they come.

"Disabilities": proposed.
I can FW after 1/3/95 but wouldn't mind if someone else jumped in before
then and started.
If I do it, it will probably involve linked items with many other
conferences as well as whatever items turn up. Plus maybe an "info" type
slate of items designed for specific information sets, pending the right
person to help me set that up.

If you have definite ideas as to how you want to organize the con-
ference, it might be best to wait until you're ready to start it up.

If you do start the disabilities conf, I know the Buffalo Freenet
(freenet.buffalo.edu) had a bunch of info on stuff like the Americans
with Disabilities Act and the like. Ya might want to check them out...

Yes. I think it would be used. I'll try to start a few informational
items. I'll FW and will at least open the gate with an initial item soon
after you start it. Could you point me to the FW how-to info?
BTW, is there information available on the relative traffic in the
different conferences on Grex? (Users per period or some other
comparative measure)

Hm. User traffic stats. You could look at the size of the conferences,
but that doesn't really tell you about traffic. Also, in each conference
you can type "display participants", but that takes forever to run.
Hm.... I don't know that there's much else availble, though you could
write some scripts to generate some statistics.

How about aconference dedicated solely to news around Grex? I would like
to read what is going on in Grex without having to wade through the volumes
of responses. There is so much here. I envision a place where folks
can enter a news article as an item with the responses coming afterward.
If the conference became popular where it filed to more than 30 items,\
it could be archived or filed with new news getting started again.
