Wow md. it is like you read my mind. That *is* exactly how I feel. All you
grexers abandoned Mnet and now you're pissed that the folks you thought you
could leave behind have decided to follow you.

Actually, I would venture to guess that a lot of Grexers started out as
Grexers. I logged onto M-Net a year later when I found out about it, noted
how it resembled a chatroom full of immature teenagers, decided I didn't fit
in, and didn't go back. I didn't sit there and make fun of it; I just didn't
log on again. Is that really so hard to do?

I did try M-net a couple of times. It wasnt' to my liking, so I didn't go
back. Doesn't bug me any, since I don't expect everybody to like Grex.
You know, we could probably solve this better if people left out the snide
childish comments.

I tried M-Net once, but I didn't inhale. ;)
Actually, I've used M-Net and Grex both at times. I generally found more of
my sort of culture on Grex than on M-Net, so I've become far more of a Grexer
than an M-Netter, but I don't think either system is evil, nor do I think the
users of either system are.

md's resp:73, discussing the formation of the war party on M-net,
is absolutely in accordance with my own observations. The only difference
is that md is reading the anti-Grex campaign by digging through
historical General conferences there, while I saw it develop in real
time through reading the conference every day.

re resp:84 It isnt as if there havent been similar conversations on
grex...especially in party. I usually shrug it off because who cares if *some*
mnetters hate grex or if *some* grexers hate mnet? The people I care about
like me for the most part.

Ooops, big difference. The conversations on Grex revolve around how
screwed up M-net is; they haven't involved encouraging raiding parties
to go over to M-net and attack it.

There would be one really nice side-effect of getting a restraining
order against willard, twinkie, and the rest. Nice for M-Net, anyway.
They'd have to *stay* on M-Net, and they'd have to take an interest in
its survival if they wanted to have a place to play. They might actually
have to think about how they affect it. Sure can't hurt it... or them.
The stuff that willard, iggy and slynne are dumping in Agora is mostly
noise, worthless. There have been times when there was so much of it
that it amounted to a denial-of-service attack (and still does, from the
response of some people). A restraining order would benefit us too.
Willard, get lost. (Will he? I doubt it. But it'll be fun to see if
he's a man of his word, or just another liar.)

How ridiculous. A *restraining order*? Because you don't like their posts?

I agree a restraining order sounds kind of lame. Suing them would be
way more fun. That's why I wanted the Grex honchos to mention the very
serious denial of service attack when they talk to their lawyer, which
they were going to do about something else which I forget. (Oh yeah,
it was the Grex "erase" command that doesn't actually do anything only
most users don't realize it.) A lawsuit might seem farfetched, but I
figured, you know, as long as they were seeing a lawyer anyway why not
mention the situation? You never know what will make a lawyer
say "Hmmm." I mean, I wouldn't make a special trip for it, but since
they were going to be in the lawyer's office anyway, y'know?

Denial of service my ass. Agora is not any less usable than it has
ever been. In fact, I would argue that it is 'enhanced' by the
contributions of its newcomers, myself included. There is a much
wider array of discussion available.

I don't know if you have to show intent in these things. But is so,
there's this, among other things:
#129 of 227 by James Howard (jp2) on Tue Jun 6 23:06:26 2000:
I say we should turn Agora into a rotting pit of slime like
General. Or has it already started? I'm not reading it.

I'm working on it. Come help.
