We have a standard residential kilowatt/hour meter. All power used by Grex
is run through this by way of splicing it into the middle of a heavy-duty
power cable (extension cord). The transformer is needed to produce a small
amount of 240 VAC, which the meter needs to run its dials. In a regular
house, there would be two 120 VAC "legs" adding up to 240 VAC, each leg
running through one of the two circuits in the meter. We only have one leg
in the Pumpkin, running through one circuit, hence the need for a simulated
second leg.

Jim would have cured this by putting two circuits in, using the second one
for lighting. It's usually just a matter of adding a breaker. But he
realizes it is rental property.

We don't have the access that would be needed to do that kind of
surgery. Scott's kludge should be fine.

Just a reminder that the special board meeting to discuss the ACLU suit is
TONIGHT at 7:30 in the Kids Room at Zingerman's Next Door. I hope everyone
who has a strong opinion on the issue and is able to come, does.

Sunday, June 20 is the last day to vote on continuing Grex's
participation in the ACLU's suit against the Michigan law to
restrict access to sexually explicit material by minors. The
polls will close at midnight EDT.

You can read the discussion about this in the Coop conference
(conf:coop) in items 98, 100, and 102-104.

The member vote on continuing Grex's participation in the ACLU
lawsuit is over, and the proposal PASSED. 38 out of 87 members
voted. YES: 36 NO: 2.
