I am SOOOOOOOOOO Happy because my new apartment is starting to kick ass. It's
beginning to look GREAT! YEA!!!!!! I still have more stuff than I know what
to do with (anne and sylvia can attest to that), but I am currently in the
process of what bernice calls "putting my books away in a wierd way". It's
not odd. I like them in order. By author. By Genre. Hardcovers together,
and softcovers together. And if not in order, than alphabetically.
So, I have Tomas Harris and Jeffrey Deaver, they go together because they are
both police/fbi types of books. And in the Jeffrey Deaver, I have Coffin
Dancer, well that comes AFTER The Bone Collector, because it's the next Link
Rhyme book.
I'm not odd, and I'm not anal (I'm NOT). I just take my books VERY seriously.
There is a lot of time spent in these books, reading and falling in love with
them, and I think that they deserve a proper display. However...that's
another problem! God...too many!!! And having lost half of my Xanth books
in the move (they were "ours" and I got half and he got half) I must get more
books...heh...poor me ;)

I get to switch hockey leagues! Finally, I get to be on a team with other
people who can skate (the one I'm in now is known as the tripod league
because all the other skaters have to lean on their sticks in order to
stay upright. Having spent the first half of my life in ice skates, I'm
thrilled to be out of there. :))

re 659: I used to be like that too, but when I went away to college I had
limited shelf space, so I had to pick The Very Favorite Books that I couldn't
live without and leave the rest at my parents. As a result, I don't have many
books by the same author, or subject, so size and binding have since become
my only criteria, and that only for the most convinient way of fitting them
all in. But yes, I totally understand, having even followed similar ways of
systeming in the past....
(Of course, even then I had the problem of filling up my bookshelves (I had
three) and then _knowing_ that a book belonged on such and such shelf in one
of them, but not having any room for it. I could never actually be as anal
about my books as I liked simply because as I lived in a room longer and
bought more books, I just plain ran out of room to be organized in!)

I moved into my current place in Mid-August. It's still full of cardboard
boxes that I haven't unpacked yet. I still haven't bought a dining room
table. I'm very jealous of anybody who can get past that point in the first
week or two.

Well, I should have everything unpacked by next wednesday at the latest. The
lateness because I have had to work every day this week, and am taking a
friend who has helped me home for the weekend. I'll return and do some stuff
on my own. But the majority of the things will be done tonite.

((I have boxes which were packed in 1980 which have never been unpacked.
:/ Not to mention boxes from subsequent moves in 1986 and 1990.))

photos and albums and yearbooks that I will unpack now...

Anney and I are *still* unpacking, and we're about to *renew* our
lease...heh...
IHB I got up for work at five a.m. This is a Great Feat.
IAHB my current looooove interest will be at dance practice tonight.
IVHB I work seven days this week which means money for brake repairs and
Christmas/Solstice/Hanukkah presents.

Grin. I have boxes from a move in the eighties still unpacked, too. Somewhere.
And boxes from my mother-in-law's move out of her house (ten years ago?
Twelve?)
As for books... organization? You have GOT to be kidding. The best I can do
is just stuff 'em together six deep in bookcases (because I have a LOT of
books -- we've gone through the living room bookcases (all but two) and I'
ve already got six or seven sacks full of the ones I'm getting rid of, and
there's still my bedroom bookcases and piles, the basement boxes, and whatever
else is floating around the house. And then there's the book case at work.
I'd *love* to organize my books and CDs but it would take YEARS, and I'd never
be done. (Besides, then I'd have to disarrange it constantly as I decided to
reread, say, all my Diane Duanes one night.)) (Knew I had a hanging end paren
somewhere!)
And you don't even want to know about my desk at work -- twenty years of
papers, notes, tchotches.... It's scary. Scary even to ME.

I am happy because on my way into Services this morning, I saw this really
cute guy - don't know his name - I think he works in the law library - not
seeking him out. I just know he is incredibly cute, has the greatest voice
and the most awesome accent (Australian). Sometimes, it's the slightest
things that can make me smile.

(Yes, Anne lived above Moe's and Espresso Royale for a summer, and it
was most cool.)
And yes, Anne hasn't quite finished unpacking... kind of a test to see
if I can really live without something (if I can I may get rid of it).
Also, some of my stuff isn't meant to be unpacked. I leave it packed
for now because I know I'll want it in a few years but I have no place
for display.
IHB- That Guy comes homes this weekend.

I had a productive day Thursday. I moved and assembled the new bed for my
parents almost entirely without assistance, and it appears to be a winner.
I managed to haul down their old bed and some other furniture pieces to the
basement as well. There was shopping and a few phone conversations to pepper
things up, and it all went rather well.

IHB my boss took the group out to dinner today and we went to the Gandy Dancer
(blah...oh well) and the food was okay. I get to leave early (I hope) and
then off to the other side of the state for a weekend of fun and sleep.

in olive oil while Pete Townshend's "All the Best Cowboys have Chinese Eyes"

The children were here this saturday, and i enjoyed my time with both
Alex and Erica.
(I also had to pry the jar of cashews out of Erica's arms before
She left. :) )

Nice relaxing productive day to myself. I finally got around to ordering a
dining room table, after having an empty dining room for almost four months.
I did lots of laundry. I took a long walk. I'm going to a movie shortly.
I think I may even be able to get in grocery shopping, after not having eaten
at home all week.
