I'd like to nominate Meg Heberlein (eeyore).

Well, after reading all of this, it occurs to me that I would actually be VERY
interested in serving on the Grex board, due to my strong interest in free
speech on the internet and my belief that Grex is one of the best places on
the net supporting free speech.
I would be willing to do whatever neccesary to help support Grex as a board
member. So, if someone wants to second my self-nomination, just for my own
reassurance, consider this my statement that I would be willing to serve.
(There, with a statement as vague as the above, i am most definitely destinied
for a career in politics).

I'm willing to take a shot at running....but I'm afraid that my statement
would be things like "I promise that I will not comb my yak during meetings",
and such. :)

In the event that I am elected, I promise that I *will* comb my yak at
meetings.*
*Should said yak not be mine, then no obligation to comb
said yak holds.

The yak combing would certainly make meetings more interesting.
I second the nomination of morpheus.

to do it)

But wait, someone already nominated eeyore <ducks extremely swiftly,
knowing it's not good enough anyway.> :)
We love you, Meg! :)

(I was just seconding Andrew because he asked to be seconded. There is no
requirement that a nominee be seconded)

nominees who have declined:

So we've now got slightly more than enough candidates to make up a board.
Still, it would be nice to have a few more candidates, such that we could
choose a bunch of board members, rather than choosing one non-board member.

I'll decline the nomination and thank those who have volunteered
to be candidates. We are lucky to have such great people onboard.
The yak is a nice touch.

If the yak is ineligible to run for board, can the yak be auctioned?
Grex-auction is coming up soon.

Is this list useful for anybody but me? I've been putting it together so that
I don't have to keep reading through the whole item, but I'm not sure if I
should be posting it or just keeping it in a file of my own.

I'd like to nominate the hat for which we keep raising funds. The hat,
at least, ought to be able to afford a membership, which the Yak
probably couldn't.

The list is helpful, Steve. Thanks. (A typo though - take me out
of the "have neither" column.)
Well, for years and years M-Net has water oxen waiting at the
the gate so it's nice to see Grex has let them in. ;-)

I know this isn't the "cadidates speak out" item, but I'd like to ask the
accepted nominees: If elected, are you committed to "do whatever it takes"
to ensure that a competent and dependable treasurer is selected from among
the board members, including volunteering, if necessary?
