I asked about this once, and was told that the hack necessary to make ssh go
into the queue would be too evil to live.

Given how rarely the queue is full, I guess there's no point in worrying about
it, then.

The terminal server seems to be hosed tonight - I was unable to dial in.

response 56 of 293: Mark Unseen   Jul 10 12:00 UTC 2002

I was unable to dial in from about 5:30 Tuesday afternoon continuing until
my last attempt at 7:30 this morning. I'm fortunate that I've got a temp
position that gives me telnet access.

I am still unable to dial in, since yesterday afternoon.

I also couldn't dial in. Modem connects, then nothing.

Looks like the terminal server is indeed down. I'll try to get to the
Pumpkin in the next hour and look at it.

Seems to be the coax section of our LAN that's the culprit. Only thing left
there is the terminal server. I'll put in one of my hubs if I can't find
something else to use here on the Pumpkin.

Fixed. I stole a 10base-T transceiver from a development machine.

I'm glad this is fixed! I couldn't dial in about 45 minutes ago,
and was about to report the problem. 8-)

Yes, dialins are down. Noticed it first just before 6 pm. Tried
3000 and 5041. Blank screen after answer. Thanks when someone
gets to it.

What Mary & Bill said. I can testify that dialin was working for a while
in between. <sigh>

response 70 of 293: Mark Unseen   Jul 11 15:45 UTC 2002

Got a connection, sat 2 minutes 15 seconds with no response, then was
disconected by Grex. This was at about 19:05 Tuesday.

And again at 20:08.

And again at 23:24. This was old the first time.

And AGAIN Wednesday, morning, evening and night! This is two days now.

If the terminal server is going to be FUBAR, can we at least:

a.) Turn off the useless modems, and/or
b.) Put as many modems as possible on the tty ports to bypass
        the defective terminal server?

With the situation as it is now, a dial-in user can't even put in a
note to mention that the terminal server is down.

Dialins should be working again. I swapped Ethernet hubs in the Pumpkin.

Thanks from me and from dpfitzen, who phoned yesterday to find out whether
the attachment in her email might have caused grex to stop working for her.
She writes that it is doing fine again now, thankfully.
