I had meant to accept, but for some reason it didn't occur to me that I
actually needed to say anything. Probably because no one else had, so
far. So, I'll accept the nomination as well. :)

I'd like to nominate Meg Heberlein (eeyore).

response 55 of 167: Mark Unseen   Nov 8 22:03 UTC 1999

Well, after reading all of this, it occurs to me that I would actually be VERY
interested in serving on the Grex board, due to my strong interest in free
speech on the internet and my belief that Grex is one of the best places on
the net supporting free speech.
I would be willing to do whatever neccesary to help support Grex as a board
member. So, if someone wants to second my self-nomination, just for my own
reassurance, consider this my statement that I would be willing to serve.
(There, with a statement as vague as the above, i am most definitely destinied
for a career in politics).

response 56 of 167: Mark Unseen   Nov 8 23:51 UTC 1999

I'm willing to take a shot at running....but I'm afraid that my statement
would be things like "I promise that I will not comb my yak during meetings",
and such. :)

response 57 of 167: Mark Unseen   Nov 9 00:35 UTC 1999

In the event that I am elected, I promise that I *will* comb my yak at
meetings.*

*Should said yak not be mine, then no obligation to comb
                 said yak holds.

response 58 of 167: Mark Unseen   Nov 9 01:23 UTC 1999

The yak combing would certainly make meetings more interesting.

I second the nomination of morpheus.

(wonders if she is supposed to be seconded before saying that she is willing
to do it)

I nominate the yak.

response 61 of 167: Mark Unseen   Nov 9 05:43 UTC 1999

But wait, someone already nominated eeyore <ducks extremely swiftly,
knowing it's not good enough anyway.> :)

We love you, Meg! :)

response 62 of 167: Mark Unseen   Nov 9 05:50 UTC 1999

(I was just seconding Andrew because he asked to be seconded. There is no
requirement that a nominee be seconded)

So we've now got slightly more than enough candidates to make up a board.
Still, it would be nice to have a few more candidates, such that we could
choose a bunch of board members, rather than choosing one non-board member.

response 64 of 167: Mark Unseen   Nov 9 13:19 UTC 1999

I'll decline the nomination and thank those who have volunteered
to be candidates. We are lucky to have such great people onboard.

The yak is a nice touch.

If the yak is ineligible to run for board, can the yak be auctioned?
Grex-auction is coming up soon.

Is this list useful for anybody but me? I've been putting it together so that
I don't have to keep reading through the whole item, but I'm not sure if I
should be posting it or just keeping it in a file of my own.

response 72 of 167: Mark Unseen   Nov 10 07:30 UTC 1999

It helps me keep track, for my own curiosity's sake. :)

(Meg didn't realize that she was going to start a Great Yak Debate)

response 73 of 167: Mark Unseen   Nov 10 07:40 UTC 1999

I'd like to nominate the hat for which we keep raising funds. The hat,
at least, ought to be able to afford a membership, which the Yak
probably couldn't.
eeyore
response 74 of 167: Mark Unseen   Nov 10 08:06 UTC 1999

I'd like to second the Silly Hat. It's wisdom could inspire us all!
