It was the decent thing to do. We're all glad that you did it and used good
judgement from the start.

Microsoft's first directed anti-Linux advertisement:
http://www.koehntopp.de/kris/msad.jpg
It's in German. It says "open operating systems do not only have advantages"
and talks about how they can mutate without any central authority to control
everything. Someone had fun with photoshop.

I'd thought that ad was a hoax; it didn't have the ring of a
multi-billion dollar advertising budget.

IWLTA that I got carded today. I guess I really don't look any older after
my last birthday.

IWLTA that at the beer concession at Joe Louis Arena, it says "We card anyone
under 30". I guess there must be something about you that changes when you
hit 30, such as the word "ESTABLISHMENT" appearing on your forehead or
something. :-)

It's just an arbitrary number. Point being, that lots of 20 year olds look
21, but not many of them look 30.
I never get carded anymore.

Here's a message from "Blasted Bill" Putt and Tim Ryan!
Hi, I hope you tune into my internet radio show, The Toad Elevating
Moment show on warp-radio.com with DJ Blasted Bill and
Goat Cheese Pizza (Franky). Web in tonight and every Monday night
at 8pm until midnight (Eastern time) by putting
http://warp-radio.com:8000
into WinAmp or your internet radio receiver.
I will have a special all HALLOWEEN show this week and I will have my
partner in grime for Dementia 2001, Tim Ryan in as guest DJ. Web in on
Devil's night for my show. To connect paste
"http://warp-radio.com:8000"
in play location of winamp. Show is 8-12 EST.
Hi, Tim Ryan here and I'll be bringing in tunes to fit the
Halloween mood. Not just fun Halloween songs, but creepy and weird
Halloween songs. Some you have heard before, plenty I know you have
not heard before, including some that are hard to find or down right
near impossible to find. You will be hearing songs from some our
Dementia 2001 guests, including Tom Smith and Robin Nakkula (yes, it
does rhyme with Dracula, but you say Nakkula with a Finnish accenet,
not a Translyvanian accent). Yes, those filkers will be in amoung
other filk, folk, rock, oldies and danceable Haloween tunes. Web
in and we will be playing tunes you will be glad you stopped by to
listen.

I evidently card more than most people, because roughly half the people I card
seem surprised by it. Very few are upset.

Well, in some ways it can be a compliment to get carded... I tend to go
to the same places to buy anything I would be carded for- so at this
point they recognize me, but I get carded a lot- and I'm 25.
With the 'Under 30' rule listed and visible people tend not to get too
upset. One place had two pictures and it asked which person was
older. Of course, to go with the theory- the chick who looked about 16
was really 24 or something and the chick who appeared to be 20-
something was 17. Gives the clerks a bit of leeway in that if someone
does complain the clerk can point to the sign and claim it's not his
fault. (Given that sooo few people like taking the blame for anything).

artifical sweetner for me, but he could be funny. And I liked some of his
songs.

He did host Jack Kerouac on his show and also did backup to his spoken
poetry recordings, so I have to respect the man...
