I'm very sorry, Meg. That's a rough trip to go through. And yes, get a
mammogram. I think they start recommending them for people over fourty, but
no time is too early (recent events have motivated me to seriously consider
getting screened in the immediate future, and I'm a week short of 21).

<hugs Meg> Yeah, it never hurts...except the actual test. Just be happy that
you can go in for just a screening... 2 years ago they found a lump and I
had to go for an ultrasound, a mamogram, and was planned for a biopsy until
the surgeon decided to do observation and it went away on it's own. (he
actually canceled when I was in the room preparing for surgery) It's one of
those things you can be happy that you have a choice to go in, rather than
the need.

<sighs> Okay, so while I managed to get a LOT of sleep (for me at any
rate) I must have slept wrong because my back is all full of annoying
aches today. (normal for neck/shoulders to be tense, but this is
ridiculous!) Ah well.

I'll fix it later, Anney. :)
Well, at this point, too, both of my grandmother's had it. My father's mother
died of breast cancer about 7 years before I was born, and my mother's mother
had a mastectomy about 15 years ago. Her mother, however, did not survive
it. My mother's mother also had a spot of Melonoma removed last year, which
can lead to breast cancer-type stuff. (luckily, her's hadn't moved or
anything)
Well, off to check with the docs.

Yes tht type of family history is DEFINATELY a reason to go in. My Dad's
brothers and sisters seem to be going through an explosion of aneurysms, which
is what my Grandfather died of. Oh yay. And then there's another rash of
Alzheimer's patients in my family. Thus far 3 great aunts/uncles have had
it
plus my Grandma.

feeling I know what I'm in for.

Did you know you can have a gallstone attack even after the gall bladder
has been removed? It happened to me yesterday. It is pretty painful and
I did not trust myself driving to emergency, and no one else was
available, so I called 911, and got the "works". First a fire dept emergency
truck arrived with sirens and lights going, so I walked out to meet them,
hoping to tone down the hoopla. Then the ambulance arrived with sirens
and lights going, and I had to endure being wired and plumbed. They
seemed not to know the way to the hospital, too - taking a really round-about
route. But I'm glad the service is available, and that they do take
extra precautions, since it *might* have been more serious than a gallstone.

(MSU beat us in hockey last night(3-2) *and* tonight(4-1)! BOOHOO!! Even
if Michigan loses one game this weekend. <hope hope hope> I'm pretty
sure we won't be number one in the CCHA.)

Carson: PHTPHTPHPTHTPHTPHPTHPTHPTH :)
You're just jealous because we have a superior team.
I'm tired and cranky and stuffed up. I need to slow down and rest, do
homework. That isn't coming anytime soon. <sigh> And I can't make any
decisions for the life of me. Very frustrating.

I was only able to see out the back window. While I know most of the
streets in Ann Arbor, I don't often view them *going away*! But they
were on a dozen different streets, and it only takes me 6 to get there.

Michigan's not going to lose tonight. Sorry Wendy and Carson.
IBB I have to make a choice between watching Syracuse football or
watching Michigan football later on today. Actually, my choice may be
somewhat easier because I don't think Syracuse is on TV.

IBB Bush is proving to be the disaster many feared. After signing a law to
allow hand recounts, he has filed a suit to prevent them. If he thought the
results would be the other way, he'd be calling for the recounts, himself.
Humbug.

Re 346: Hmm, so my family isn't the only one? I've had six relatives
facing health problems to varying degrees of seriousness since Labor
Day. It's gotten to where I'm sort of afraid to call or e-mail my mom
and ask for news. <sigh> Hang in there, Meg. Hope things go better
for your family...

Hmmm. And here everyone thought the conference was all decided...stay
tuned. Note: UM is NOT allowed to lose next weekend to OSU. I would
rather see NU lose to Illinois, alum or no...
oh well, this is why it's fun to be an NU alum--they never ever do what
you expect them to. <dreams of the '97 game where they opened with an
onside kick>
