I like the Klingon JawJook/Head-butting contest idea. We could do this in the
venue of a party in the manner of the post-Picofests that the old M-net used
to have. But perhaps Core Wars *would* be a more appropriate test of
worthiness for something like a BBS...

Throw them both in the Huron river and see who floats longest and the other
one must be a witch.

Other suggestions:
- Drum-off
- NHL Style Shootout (I'll volunteer to be in net for both contestants)
- Fire starting contest
- Ice sculpture
- "Who can eat more at Blimpy Burger" contest (I think I prefer this
one)

I suggest that the two settle the issue via a best-of-five
match at thumb-wrestling.

I offer to donate a roll of duct tape, to be used across
Richard's mouth until the issue is settled. After that it
can be used over Sindi's mouth when she brings up the issue
of certificates of deposit.

I object to used duct tape over my mouth for sanitary reasons.

Are you concerned that the duct tape might get dirty? ;)

Flu viruses, you know.

The two candidates could have a money-donating contest. May I offer my
services as the beneficiary?

Perhaps they could both throw feasts for the voters, like the Romans.

query-- what happens if the runoff is again a tie? if there were only
say four voters who voted for both of them, and they each vote again, and two
pick one and two pick the other, and presume everyone else stays on principle
with their original votes, it could happen.

response 316 of 332: Mark Unseen   Dec 27 13:49 UTC 2001

Perhaps we should let Richard cast the deciding vote in that case?

remmers has asked the board to decide in advance what to do if the runoff
ends in a tie. I suspect we will flip a coin.

I think that the runoff should be decided by krj's cat >^.^<

So flem is elected. Congratulations, and thanks to both of you
for running.

I feel sorry that we couldn't have both of you. Sylvia, I hope you'll
decide to run again next time.

I still have not received scheduling preferences from Marcus or STeve
(check your grex email guys, subj: Scheduling), but as it stands the days
are ranked by preference as follows:

Wednesday 4
Tuesday 3
Thursday 1
Friday -1
Monday -2

with the following dates excluded:

8 (Tue)
10 (Thu)
16 (Wed)
18 (Fri)
21-28 (Mon-Mon)

So, the optimal dates are tomorrow, the 9th, or Wednesday the 30th, with
second rank choices being Thursdays either the 17th or 31st.
(Thursdays rank lower than Tuesdays but nobody marked Thursdays as
unavailable, while one person did mark Tuesdays that way.)

I'd prefer the 30th to the 9th, fwiw.

I donubt we're going to get it together to meet tomorrow. The other dates
are fine for me - I vote for the 17th so we can get this show on the road.

Any of those evening, the 17th, 30th, or 31st work for me.

response 329 of 332: Mark Unseen   Jan 11 08:26 UTC 2002

Since the 17th is the soonest date with no objections yet offered, I will
take the lead and hereby declare it to be the date of the January Board
meeting unless a grex board member objects and offers an alternative date
which is suitable.
