(Spike & I won the Euchre tournament last night. we thought we'd have to
throw the last game in order to get the gift certificates instead of the
cheap-ass lava lamps they were giving to the winners, but we worked out
a deal with the last team we played, who had wanted the lamps. I now
have a $25 gift certificate for the Casa Calabria.) :) :) :)

Went to the rink tonight. Got my skates sharpened, the guy actually did
a good job (it's incredibly difficult to find a sharpener who actually
knows how to sharpen goalie skates), skated for 2 and a half hours, then
got to walk back with a few cool people. And I had pizza.

(I spent 27 Washingtons on books, and they *weren't* textbooks! I now
have both hardcover Akiko novels, plus my own copy of the first two Anne
novels [which means I can return my sister's copies]. *and* Lawry's
actually had five Garden Medley pasties to sell me, for a change! [they're
usually almost out whenever I stop by.])

(I decided that I, too, am happy that the Yankees and the Mets won their
leagues. Now the rest of us can forget about baseball until April, since
no one west of the Hudson or north of Connecticut cares about either team.

We won. Other teams won. I'm enjoying a reprieve from Sunday, even if the
circumstances could use improvement.

I am happy that the Marathon was a success. It was pretty fun - and I got
to have a good cry with some of our participants.

Panda Energy has decided NOT to build a one billion watt natural gas
fired electric generating plant in Dexter Township. I am happy that I
don't have to figure out if drift from the stacks would be harmful. Using
treated water from sewage treatment plants to cool the combustion gases
from such plants is a relatively new concept and there is a lot of concern
about bioaerosols. Everyone downwind of the proposed project should be
happy too. It is my understanding that the other site was near lake
Michigan and they would use lake water for cooling there. I am still a
big proponent of energy conservation so I don't like them building any
more power plants!
