Today was just wonderful. Perfect weather. I had a nice little tailgate
event before the game, which also went well. The game was... well, a blowout.
Best Waves we've had at the Stadium in years. Just an idyllic sort of day.
I'm set up for a good evening, too.

My car is in the shop with a dead starter. Has been since mid-Thursday.
Might not get it back until late Monday.
What's this doing in the "I'm happy" item? I've been able to get all
my essential business done on foot and bicycle. Even the majority of
my socializing is now within electric-car distance.
With the upsets in the Middle East making gasoline into an option is
a damn good idea, and I'm happy to be just about there.

I saw Coyote Ugly last night, Shaft and X-Men tonight. Highly enjoyable
movies. X-Men was great. (For reference, I've never read the comic
books nor watched the cartoon, soo I thought it was great! :)

I'm glad that we replaced out 14 year old Chevy Nova with its modern-day
brother, a 2001 Toyota Corolla. I was tempted by the Prias but decided
that kind of car is better for city driving. Now that we live in the
country, we don't do much stop and go driving. The new Corolla gets even
better gas mileage than the Nova did and I was even able to get it without
air conditioning! (Keeps engine compartment simpler, less weight and saved
us about $800 for something we'd only us occasionally.) 38 MPG city, 49
MPG highway makes even more sense today and I've always enjoyed that light
and nimble feeling no SUV can deliver.

IHB it was a busy, oh-my-god, kill-me-now day at work, and I handled it Really
Really Well. I got praise from three people. =) I like this management
thing.
IAHB I'm about to go collapse in a pile of kitties, flannel sheets, pillows,
and blankets.

Jim took some of the repair projects off the kitchen counter and stove so it
is easier to cook again. The floor is another matter. He has almost
succeeded in converting a small tape recorder to a reader of books for the
blind - with an autoreverse head from a car tape deck, a resistor to slow it
down, and a switch between tracks it will now play all four tracks separately.
Maybe now we can go through the other three truckloads of stuff he brought
home from Kiwanis instead of throwing it out.

Got the lions share of pavers laid in the barn. Just need to chop 70 or so
pavers to fit in the odd shaped spots. Looks nice too.

Aaah. Finally got some work accomplished and feel like I actually
accomplished something. Maybe I won't be behind this week in my work.
Had a relaxing, if boring, day of quiet study room time. Had an
excellent evening last night and an equally excellent morning, except
for the phone call at 7:30 this morning. <growl>

I'm less unhappy now that we're back home. Sleeping in my own bed is good.
Being in Ann Arbor is good. Having driven some six hundred miles in four days
is not good. Leaving one's mother behind is not good. (Hmmm.... guess I'd
better head to the bummed item. See you there.)

I did the good American citizen thing and voted. Just need to mail my
ballot back. Yay and stuff.
And, I don't have history on wednesday which makes me very very happy.
So this week is starting out on a good foot.

Hmm. I think I had a good day. I've been on the go since... uh... 830, I
think. 23 hours ago, or maybe a bit less. Anyway, it wasn't so bad. I had
different stuff to do. I was productive. I was able to help out. It's good.
We had a store meeting (preceding my 12 hour shift) where I managed to win
50 bucks. Primary factor? Height!

I'm happy it only took two day's to repair the phone line, instead
of four days, like Ameritach estimated.
