Pabst isn't beer. It's yeast-flavored Coca-Cola.

You don't have to take my word for it, Sindi. If you really want
to get an earful about TS Taylor, have a chat with Tom (bookie).
Tom was TS's business partner, until... well, I'll let him tell you.
I got off comparatively easy.

(Chinese, huh? I bet he expected me to buy him dinner again.
Did anyone get the impression that he was going to treat me?)

I got the impression he meant for you each to pay for your own meal.
Thank god you saw through his evil scheme before it was too late..

From the two previous postings, I get the vague impression that russ treated
tsty to a meal at a restaurant and tsty invited russ to a restaurant and russ
for some reason expected that tsty would return the favor by treating him.
But I really cannot figure out what is going on here - did I miss something?
My point in mentioning our experience with tsty was that we did him a favor
and he refused to compensate us for the time we put into it. We had to stay
an hour late to do the work that Jim could not do because he was helping tsty,
and that tsty would not do while Jim was helping him. (Easy stuff, plugging
in clock radios to see if they work, etc.). This is why I would be more
inclined to believe Russ's side of a story when he claims that he did
something for tsty (lent him a guitar) and tsty did not return the favor (or
the guitar). I notice that tsty is not participating in this discussion.

Well, the way the incident with TS and Jim is perceived by Sindi
certainly says a lot about *her*.

Sindi says:

Ummmmmmmmmm...... correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the very nature of "doing
someone a favor" incompatible with grousing that you weren't compensated?

(In other words, I agree with #34.)

#35> I prefer Barenjager. But that's not beer, that's a REAL man's drink.

I don't know what the problem is between russ and tsty, adn I do not care.
But this is not the place to discuss it.

Keesan, when someone comes into my place of business and I help them, I do
not expect them to work in order to pay me back. It is either a favor, which
requires no payback, or is for cash, which is what they pay me for, or is
because I want to get something out of my way.

Apparently, it's not the place to discuss the problem between russ and testy,
it's the place to discuss the problem between sindi and testy. ;}

Her opinion of tsty based on one instance shouldn't have any factual bearing
on the reality of another instance unrelated to her. That would be like
Republicans claiming that Bill Clinton was a bad president just because he
had an affair with an inter... oh, wait. Nevermind.

Re #23: You're right, Sindi. I brought it up to warn others.
Also because I'm pissed off.

TS claimed to me that the guitar had gone missing along with
most everything he had as a result of a household situation gone
wrong. Notice that he's not sticking to that story; if he had
he would have said something like "Hey, I was robbed too, I can't
afford to pay you back - maybe someday." But he didn't. Instead
he denied any knowledge of what both he and I (and others) know
very well, which is that my property went missing while in his
possession. That makes him a liar.

Given that he's a liar, I'll bet the story of the household
situation was probably a fabrication too (to have a reason for
my property not being returned). That makes him a thief as well.

I strongly suggest that nobody, here or anywhere, trust a liar
and a thief with anything they want to keep - whether it is
something they own, or any other kind of trust.

If TS wants to come clean, all he has to do is pay me. Or he
can sue me for libel to defend his non-existent reputation.
I expect monkeys to fly out of my butt before either happens.

Re #31: I treated him last time, Mike; I figured his situation
was bad enough to be worthy of charity. He owes me. (Not that
I'd accept now; I would not knowingly sit down to dinner with
someone who either lied to me or stole from me.)

Re #32: Got it in one, Sindi.

Re #43: Combine the independent and unrelated (except via tsty)
experiences of bookie, russ and sindi. Tell me if you evaluate
differently after that.

Jim and I were not being paid. We were volunteers at Kiwanis and were already
putting in too much time. Customers do not normally come in after hours while
we are testing equipment, or demand that volunteers continue looking for
equipment for them for an hour. He could have come on Saturday morning and
waited in line for his 5 minutes of Jim's time like everyone else. For
special treatment like he got, to someone we did not even know, I would expect
ANYONE to help us out in exchange. Other people had done so. I don't recall
that we even got any thanks. I hope this at makes Russ feel like he has a
bit of support. We have also run into people who think that if you lend them
something it must not be worth anything to you in the first place, and now
we only lend things out that we don't care about.

I understand your annoyance, Sindi, although supporting accusations that
someone's a thief (slander) based on evidence that someone's a jerk isn't
sound in my book.

Would people mind terribly if I unlink this from the music conference
and copy the first few responses about guitar resources to a new
item?
