Re #16, you are the one who's confused because apparently you didn't
even bother to read the news reports. Its all very clearly reported
out there as to who said what. Its no *fog* of the war situation.

A rough timeline
================
1. US military rescues Private Lynch in a commando operation. States
that they were given insider information by an Iraqi lawyer about the
whereabouts of Ms.Lynch.
2. US military says she fought to her last bullet and got captured. At
this point they say nothing about the rape. Lynch says nothing (I
guess mostly coz she's still an the rolls of the army)
3. Ms.Lynch leaves the army and writes a book. Says that she never
fired any bullets and her group lost its way and walked into the
ambush (This part was reported by BBC earlier too citing a US Army
inquiry report)
4. US military now says that during her medical examination it had
turned out that she might've been raped. The Iraqi doctor who examined
her says he did not find any evidence of rape but also says that he
wasn't looking for rape evidence.
5. Ms. Lynch says that she has no memory of what happened to her in
the three hours she was unconscious after the capture.

60 minuets had a pretty good exposition of this series of events. the
intercpeted radio transmissions (iraqui) stated *SHE* kept firing.

teh presumptoin (first reports are always wrong) was obviously
lynch or johnson or ... ?????? .... teh description was 'blonde' so
it might have been a male!!!

soem burr-head dude fofed a whole damn mortar site .. blonde, btw.

war is hell.

inserting *complimetnary* dialouge isnt' nearly as slanderous as conjuring
hostile dialouge. attributing such dialouge is unfurtunate as well
as udnersatndable. not enough time/evaluation has taken place to get
it all right.

however, these are *sweeps weeks* for teh dying newtwrok television stations.

And here is the real fog of war

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3260473.stm
------------------------------------------------------
By the end of the day, 1/2 marines had seized both bridges, but 18 of
them were dead - all from Charlie company. Scores more were injured. It
was the heaviest loss of life for an individual US unit since the
Mogadishu debacle of 1993.

But the story of 1/2 marines is seldom heard amid all the focus on
Jessica Lynch and her disputed rescue. Some I spoke to after the war
expressed their frustration at the way the media had concentrated on
the 20-year-old army private.

The Iraqi lawyer was interviewed on Scarborough Country last night and
Scarborough was making a big thing of Lynch not having telephoned the
lawyer yet to thank him. I think the lawyer was embarrassed by this
too.

Ain't Larry Flynt a nice guy:

NEW YORK -- Pornographer Larry Flynt says he bought nude photos of Pfc.
Jessica Lynch last month to publish in Hustler magazine, but changed his
mind because she is a "good kid ... and a victim of the Bush
administration."

The photos, which purportedly show the undressed Army supply clerk posing
with male soldiers, were sold to Flynt last month, according to a
statement from Flynt that was read to The Associated Press Tuesday by his
publicist.

The publicist, who would not give her name, said Flynt "has no plans to
use the photos."

"Jessica Lynch is a good kid, she's not a hypocrite or out to fool
anyone," Flynt's statement said. "She's just a victim of the Bush
administration, who is using her to justify the war in Iraq and force-feed
us a Joan of Arc."

Why does she even have nude pictures out? Or are these pictures from
the rescue?

I never called her a liar.

Just that with all the stories floating around I do not know who to believe.
Flynt says she and some of the other girls in her unit posed for the pictures
befor they left. (not for him, but for fellow recruits) One of them
obviously thought more of Flynts money than of the impact on a fellow
serviceman.

Re#45, go easy on that twit filter, Sindi. Self-censorship is, after
all, still censorship with all the drawbacks.

Heh, who knows whether this is reaching you even. :) Anyways .....

There are books that I choose not to read because I know from experience
that I don't care for the author. That's not "censorship" (which I define
as somebody else deciding not to let me read something), it's me making
a choice about how I will spend my time. Why should bbs responses be
any different?
