Congratulations! We were told it would take about 3 weeks
until is felt like home. I found that to be true. Mostly,
I needed to do some cooking so it smelled like home. That
and finding the light switches without thinking about it.

Change is cool.

And don't worry about what to do with all the extra space--before you
know it, it'll be filled and you'll be wondering how you fit all that
stuff in the old place...

I've lived in this place for six or seven years, and I *still* don't know
where all the light switches are.

I'm *forgetting* where light switches are - since I've been living with an
X-10 system that turns a lot of them on and off from a computer, in
particular, all the outside lights.

Well, I should be moving soon, as soon as I find a place and can arrange to
run away. Looking at Ypsi, Milan, and Bellville now.

IWLTA that the old traffic light standards at Huron Parkway
and Washtenaw are gone. This includes the 'No Right Turn on Red'
sign. None other found. Only the temp lights are there. The bummer
of it is to be in line and less than 12 cars go thru on Huron Prkwy
or turn onto Washtenaw in one turn.

Is it still an intersection with different signals for thru and left-turn
traffic? It seems to me that that would be a primary reason for it having been
a no turn on red intersection.

Only on Washtenaw. Huron Parkway is a one way at a time street now. First
all the southbound traffic moves, then the northbound, each for a set
amount of time. Usually just enough time for all the cars except the one
in front of me, myself, and all the cars and trucks behind me.

The house is starting to fit. I used my new (to me) gas oven to bake some
biscuits the other morning. Quite different than the old electric I've
used all those years. Stuff is slowly filtering into the little nooks and
out of the moving boxes. Now I have to empty out the storage rental place
and stop paying for that. I wonder how much of it I'll really need?

IWLTA that there's an SCCA PRO Rally this weekend in the Keweenaw.
Spectator stages are being run Saturday; stop by rally headquarters on the
7th floor of the Franklin Square Inn in Houghton for details. Real cars
going real fast on twisty forest roads...what's not to like?

I just moved too. Whew, what a pain. I also have about tripled my living
space and now I have a mostly empty house. I love it though. It is a
very very beautiful house. I have only lived there a week and I am still
getting used to everything. It is fun and exciting though. My first
house. Yay me!

Friday night around 11:00 pm, my wife and I were returning
home through Saline. She was admiring a Mustang in front of
us on the road from Saline to Macon/Boysville (that road has
several names; I don't know what to call it). The car cruised
away from us after the speed limit changed from 25 to 45 mph.
My wife commented that it seemed to be swerving a little.

We got to about the corner of Jordan Rd. and Oak Park Valley Dr.,
which is where I believe Rick Root's parents used to live,
and I saw what looked like a pickup truck in a field, with
feeble lights. We stopped and turned around, and shortly
found out it was the Mustang, laying on it's side.

We didn't have a flashlight; my wife called 911 and I flagged
another car. It was a pickup truck; he didn't have a flashlight
either but pointed his headlights into the field. I could see
a man with his head and shoulders stuck through the broken
out windshield. The car looked like it was about to roll over
right on him. I didn't think it would matter, since I was
sure he was dead, but the pickup truck driver looked closer and
said he was breathing.

We didn't touch him, but I stayed next to him and tried to say
reassuring things, as well as warning him not to move, and
telling him the ambulance was on the way. After a few minutes
he was moving slightly, which was great to see. Except that
I was afraid the car would roll over on him.

The ambulance came quickly (though it didn't seem like it at
the time), along with several fire department rescue vehicles.
I got out of the way, and watched in relief as the professionals
went to work.

The car didn't roll over onto the guy. The guy is going to be
fine, according to the rescue workers. They took him to the
hospital, but a fire department guy told me his life was not
in danger. He took my name and phone number, since after a half
hour the police still were not there; he said we could go. No
one has called us as of now, so I guess they didn't need
anything further from us.
