I agree with #1 - aliases like "winter1995" make sense. Implementing
them involves a simple-minded, albeit tedious, edit to the /bbs/conflist
file. Maybe I'll do this next time I'm in the mood for something
simple-minded and tedious.

Re #28: Actually, I doubt that symbolic links would work. In order for
a conference to be joinable under a particular name, that name has to
appear in /bbs/conflist.
(Although an ancient version of Picospan (circa mid-1980s) didn't use a
conflist file; M-Net users could create bootleg conferences in their
home directories, and often did, much to the consternation of Mike Myers.)
