I'm happy to announce that for my ballet recital ragtime
performance, I'll be wearing appropriate period garb --
black pants and vest, white shirt, red bow tie, red sleeve
garters, and a straw hat. This will be a rare opportunity
to see me so outlandishly outfitted. See #20 (resp:20) for
time and place details.

I'll be part of a cello recital, this Sunday, at Kerrytown Concert
House. I'm accompanying an adult beginner cello student as she
plays two pieces, by Crone and Offenbach.

My ballet gig last Saturday went well. Details can be found
in my "Ragtime Notebook" item, responses 184 and 185. (It's
item 8 in classicalmusic and item 9 in music). (Backtalkers
can click on resp:music,9,184 and resp:music,9,185)

I will be walking across a stage sometime on June 7, sometime after 5pm
(but before 8pm). The exact time of said walking is unknown.

or the exact stage. ^_^

the exact stage will be a temporary stage set up inside Crisler arena.
I do not have a speaking/performing role. I would also recommend NOT
coming, as Crisler apparently gets very hot during the High School
graduation ceremonies

I shared a stage with Gene Kelly once, at Crisler.

At the recent Scott Joplin Festival in Sedalia, MO -- first week of June
-- I performed three 10-minute sets in the "tent", a large open-air
facility featuring both professional and amateur musicians. Played
about ten pieces altogether, by composers such as Charles Johnson, James
Scott, and Charles Daniels. I also played several times during
after-hours open piano. Got a number of good comments, especially for
Joplin's "Rose Leaf Rag", which I like to play in an up-tempo version.

I'm going to be playing bass guitar in a trio next Wednesday (AUg. 16) at
Bab's Piano Lounge in Ann Arbor. I'm not sure how much of the eveing I'll
be playing, though. Also, the bandleader warned me that the place is pretty
smokey.

Anyway, it's a start.

I suppose then that krj ought to freeze this item if there is a
corresponding summer item...

There is no correspoding summer item, and with fall 2 weeks away I'm not going
to bother creating one.

I'm going to be appearing with the Nick Strange Trio this Thursday at T.C.s
in Ypsi (first set, probably 10:30pm or so). Come see the debut of my
electric upright bass!

Next week I'll be playing with the same band at Bab's on Liberty in Ann Arbor,
2nd/3rd sets (maybe 10:30-12:00).

(I'm one of two bass players for this band... redundancy makes committing to
gigs much easier).
