I am feeling icky. I don't go to bed early cos I don't want to come in early
to deal with icky computers at work. Oracle sucks, Oracle programmers suck
even more. May they all rot in hell.

jiff, if it's any consolation, every person I know who's ever had to
work with Oracle has complained about it.

Oracle seems to have spent the majority of their effort making their products
stable, scalable, and fast, rather than easy to use. From what I understand,
people seem to agree that they've succeeded. If you've got a truly
gigantic amount of data, and you really want things to work, Oracle is the
DB server of choice, but be prepared to spend a lot of time and effort on it.

Hmm... what's the point of having a really fast database if in order to
get the info you want you have to spend more time maneuvering the
program to get it?

(pssttt....actually, if you want to have a LOT of data, midrange systems are
the way to go. like the IBM AS/400. however, people have been going to
oracle and other types of systems because of the e-revolution, saccrificing
some of the data handling for other functions. I did both, and the 400 is
much better for data, structured programming, and databases. but, oracle can
be "pretty")

And never in the right way, Sarah. I've gotten every conceivable
customer complaint, including one person who recently blamed me when
she couldn't find her own pen.

About getting cake out of the jar, you take the lid off, turn the jar over
and dump it out. I guess the melted crisco keeps it from sticking, even after
a while. (Or so Bruce just told me. I ate a portion of it last night and it
was definitely nummy cake.)
Bummed because it's been a crappy week. Work was very unhappy-making earlier,
and it's still annoying, and I'm tired. My therapist appointment was screwed
up, and I've been just feeling terrible. Ah well.

IBB I pinched a nerve in my back, and while I was supposed to go to two
different parties, I ended up going to one, for about an hour, before
returning home to collapse because I can't stand up straight. Today I have
finished putting together my computer, in between lying flat on my back, and
have gotten everything back up, but am wondering how I am going to sit through
a day at work with this pain I'm having now.

IHB I had a great time at Sarah's party, and the St. Paulie Girl (or otherwise
known as the lewd Swiss Miss Costume) came out wonderful looking. I want to
go around downtown and distribute packets of cocoa to the drunk masses.
teehee.
IAHB I finally got me a new casual winter coat and it was under $100!

My mom has been diagnosed with Autoimmune Deficiency Disease of the
Liver.
She will go on a steroid treatment program for the next two years.
They'll start her out on a milder dosage, and if that does not help,
will move it up to a higher one. If those don't work, she will need a
transplant. The doctors have no idea how she got this... she doesn't
drink, never has much. I don't know what to do.
I want to research this as much as possible, but am not sure where to
begin, even on the internet.

Wow, that's rough, Bees. If I find any links to that, I'll be sure
to post them here, but her doctor should be able to recommend resources for
you - the quickest solution would probably be to place a call to the advisory
nurse's line at whatever hospital she was diagnosed at and ask where you might
be able to find information on the disease.
