After I waited in the queue I logged in and then was immediately disconnected.
I thought I saw a (almost) subliminal message flash at that momment, so did
it again with capture on. Sure enough, it said connections were not being
allowed during mail handling. It would help if that message could be shown
long enough to read *and* at the beginning of the queue. [Conferencing being
interrupted for mail handling is another problem, but that is being discussed
elsewhere.]

I use ICNet for connecting to the net. When I dialled the Ann Arbor, Plymouth
and Belleville numbers, I got messages saying that the numbers were
*disconnected*. Anyone know what is going on with them? I did get in
(briefly) via a Tecumseh number, but that's not going to be practical...

When I logged in, there was a motd message that said IC net was having
problems, and we were off the net. There were two people supposedly connected
via telnet, (Grex was really fast. Wow!) but they may have been left over
from when we got kicked off and not timed out yet. Hold on.
We appear to currently be off the net.

Grex was apparrently off the net this morning due to not being able to
connect to ICNet. This afternoon's Grex outage was because somebody killed
the script that checks to see if our router has crashed this morning, and
never restarted it.

Went to edit (with vi) a response I was entering (with gate), and got this:
> >:
> "/var/tmp/Ex24103" Permission denied
>
> (Continue your text entry)
> Type . to exit or :help
I tried it again immediately & it worked fine. Checking:
-rw------- 1 kalyank 5120 Feb 14 00:06 /var/tmp/Ex24103
So I guess it was left over when something happened to kalyank while editing
something ...

About 4:00 this afternoon I tried to log in to Grex. I was
presented with some garbage, and then an insertion mark (">").
No login prompt. When I hit a return, I got another >.
What does this mean? We had not crashed at this time.
Now things are fine.

1. Someone got kicked off while in bbsed, and you snagged his tty;
2. The system somehow came up in single user or supervisor mode (whatever it's
called).

It was an Unfriendly Act for the system to hang up on me. I got
in successfully on 761-4931. Soo- we have a modem problem somewhere
in the trunk-hunt.

Has System performance increased noticeably? Queueing performance has
dropped greatly and I'm not happy about it. Who made this decision?
