Thanks remmers. I'm one step closer to being able to accept, but not
this year. I've pared my BoD commitments for two organizations, and will
be resigning from one shortly. I think next year or the year after I'll
be able to do this.

No I'm not a member yet. But I will be. By when do I need to be a member?

You would need to be a member by December 1, the start of the voting
period.

Re #15: On grex seconds are not needed, nor are nominations. All you
gotta do is say you are running. Self nomination is OK.

I'll discuss the question of whether or not I shall run with my campaign
committee.

Arlo is of the opinion that instead of running for Grex board, I should play
"wooden railroads" with him. As usual, he got to be Thomas and I got to be
Percy. Kendra says "eeoouuu!" Kendra is doing vowels. Valerie was neutral,
but not interested in running herself. I retreated to my chambers to give
the matter some thought, and promptly fell asleep. We concluded that the
candidate's triumphant return to the public arena should be postponed until
the candidate can stop to think without falling asleep.
I respectfully decline my nomination.

I'm sorry it's taken me this long to reply. Many crazy things have
been going on for the last several weeks which have demanded and
drained all excess time and energy, and said craziness was well on the
way to obtaining majority shares in the company that is the Bhelliom.
Thankfully, the corporate takeover and subsequent merger were declared
illegal by the FTC. That being said, I would like to accept my
nomination for MB. Thanks for the nomination from Richard and the vote
of confidence from Marcus.

Thanks to aruba for nominating me, but I do not think I can make time
to serve on the board this year. I have not even been keeping up with
the coop conference lately!

Nominations are open through November 15. That's a bit over two
more days. Here's how things stand:
Accepted nominations: aruba, mooncat, bhelliom, gelinas, mynxcat, polytarp
Nominated but not yet accepted or declined: krj, remmers
To appear on the ballot, nominees must affirmatively accept in this item,
and be members in good standing, by the time voting starts on December 1.

I should point out in addition that since Grex is incorporated in Michigan,
eligibility to serve is also governed by state requirements. I believe
that there was a fairly recent change to Michigan law regarding age
restrictions. It used to be that all members had to be at least 18 years
old, but I think that's been liberalized somewhat. Unfortunately the URL
that used to point to this no longer works, and I've been unable to track
this down. Does anybody else know what the current requirements are?
Regardless, I think this would affect the eligibility of at most one of
the current nominees.

What exactly is a Member in Good Standing? Does it mean that I have to become
a paying member, or do I have to be a paying member for a certain amount of
time by Dec 1?

It means you have to be a member whose dues are paid through at least the
end of the election. (Sometimes people's memberships expire, but I keep
them on the rolls for a little while afterward, hoping that they will send
money to renew. While I'm waiting, those people are still members, but not
in good standing. (And they aren't allowed to vote.))
