They just look like that kind of generic story.

True; it definitely doesn't sound like real reports from the field.

#16 has a personalized paragraph at the beginning, FWIW. OTOH, I think it's
offensive to come in here and say, "Oh, the new people are SO wonderful
because they're posting things *I* want to read, and you people who have been
here for YEARS and who are talking about things you want to talk about? YOU
SUCK! How dare you talk about things YOU enjoy in YOUR conf?"

Well, it's not all that strange when you consider they're all the same
person. You don't need to do the actual legwork on this one, either -
they've all got unusual online habits and characteristic phrasing, which
suggests that it's not even three people who know each other, but one person.

ok. what exactly is the problem here?
your local fw has lost track of what the argument's over.
also, if i DO find that these stories are plagerized i WILL freeze
this item, notify the original authors and give them the posters
ip.
i will also post something to this effect in the item so that it's not some
random freeze thing.

This is a situation that calls for good old-fashioned skepticism and
gentle guiding into active participation, not a bazooka ... :)

No kidding. Or just good old-fashioned ignoring of posts you aren't
interested in.

And hang on a minute -- why would you want to freeze the item if #0 is
"plagiarized"?
That wouldn't stop people from reading the "plagiarized" text, it would
just stop us from talking about it, which is pointless and silly. LIke
trying to require posts in the sex.cf that include sex stories to bear the
label "pornography -- warning, evil".

I'm seeing Greg act in an unusual way in this item. Are you having a bad week,
Greg? I mean, sure, this is a weird item, and worth hostility, but not THIS
much hostility.

plagarism pisses me off, if I have proff of it, and i could, i'd wipe the posts
but grex does not allow me to do that. i accept that.
*IF* i recieve proof of plagarism, the item will be frozen, and people
are more than welcome to start a new item talking about the issue.
and #0 is not what's at issue, it's the varying unoriginal trite stories
in this item.
(note unoriginal not in the sense of someone else's work, just unoriginal
as in totally dirivitive net pr0n)
and how is this unusual/hostile?

I dunno if it's unusual, but denying us the ability to comment on the boring
stories won't stop the guy from posting them, now will it?

made insipid.

You got lucky.
I was camping out in the northern lip of the lower penninsula with a
girl, and on the third day she called me by her ex-boyfriend's name. I
didn't really mind. She'd been camping with him a million times, and me
once, and had been together with him for years. Accordingly, I fixed her
with a steely eye and wouldn't talk to her for an hour.
