Looks like we may be having problems with Ye Olde DSLle again. Just got
knocked off a couple of times.

(He has re-evaluated his priorities; he's not spending much time on grex staff
issues.)

I have a suggestion to make regarding the MOTD.
It's prompted by the fact that I've been seeing this same message
(now about a week outdated) every time I've logged in for a week:
> Grex lost internet connectivity again, I've reset the DSL modem.
> I'm between library branches right now, so I don't have more info. -kip
Which is fine -- it's not as if motd is a top priority.. The suggestion,
though, is this: when reporting an outage or similar event in the MOTD,
why not include a date, e.g.:
26 Apr 2004: Grex lost intenet connectivity, etc.
It makes it easier for people who don't log in frequently to know whether
the information is current..

Good idea. I don't think motd is meant to go stale.

Heh. I seriously doubt staff is letting /d fill up as a personal
vendetta against tod.

I had to telnet in again as my previous session just hung while reading these
items (earlier it had done so but recovered), and would not recover.

I haven't been dropped today but I've had my connection freeze
for long enought ath I've been surprised when it comes back.
Right now, ffor example, I'm typing ahead about two lines.
(so sorry if the latter half of this response is mis-formatted..)
(nothing I've typed since "for l" on the second line has shown up yet..

re #203: do the words "glass house" suggest any popular aphorisms?
