(Super One, K-Mart, Econo Foods, in that order.)
(the student radio station moved from West Hall to the University Center
a few years ago, before my time. I *think* the move coincided with the
switch from AM/cable to FM broadcast and the change in call letters from
WBKX to WUPX.)

I took BART over to Union Square, the fancy shopping district in San
Francisco, today. I found an art fair going on, and since I've been meaning
to decorate my apartment (which is significantly bigger than my previous
place), and there was some nice stuff there, I bought some art. It was an
odd arrangement where the artists had been given permission to "exhibit" their
art by the City, but since there's an ordinance against selling things in
parks, the artists and customers had to walk to the edge of the square to do
the actual transactions. It felt something like the stereotypical drug buy,
except that drug dealers in movies tend not to get paid with credit cards.
I then wandered through China Town, going through a bunch of the
knicknack/souvenier shops while contemplating Christmas shopping. I quickly
discovered that China Town seems to be a several block long district in which
at least half the shops have identical inventories. Weird. I went to Borders
for a while, and then came out and started walking back towards the BART
station when I saw a large crowd, and yellow tape marked "hot set" blocking
off an area. I watched for a while as a film crew set up lots of very bright
lights, and stuff hanging from cranes to reflect the light back towards the
street. The film crew said they were shooting a movie called High Crimes,
with Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman, but all they were doing when I was there
was setting up lighting, so I didn't get to see any actors I recognized.
Now I'm back home in Berkeley. I wonder if there's anywhere that serves food
here that's still open at 10 pm on Sunday.

(the snow seems to have subsided for the moment, but I'm still expecting
to be snowed in tomorrow, and I've already scheduled the day off of work.
in the meantime, I'm making cookies [oatmeal scotchies, if you must know].
I haven't finished eating the last batch of cookies I made, which was a
chocolate chip/cinnamon chip combination that suffered from the use of
dark brown sugar instead of the light brown/white mixture recommended; my
roomie's comment was "they taste like gingerbread.")
(I also finished off the last of my pint of Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia
Frozen Yogurt. I haven't done laundry, haven't shoveled out my car, and
haven't bought a shovel to shovel out my car. there's also the matter
of cleaning the apartment sometime soon...)

It's snowing here too. Not heavy to a Yankee, but enough to turn Southerners
into walnuts. Not that it takes much.

The "snow" we've gotten so far has been little more than a dusting. A
disappointment.

MoonKittyCat- Media Play only carries the "best of red green" tape, and
they're out. Best Buy doesn't carry them, unfortunatly. Suncoast Motion
Picture Company, the movie store, has them all on their web page and if you
had a credit card it would ship in 24 hours, however, around here the closest
store is in Novi and they don't have any, and the next is Taylor or Dearborn,
and they're being bitchy too.
The good news? Since I made this a personal project, being daunted at every
turn, I called the Suncoast in Midland. They have the "red green christmas"
only in stock now. It's $20. <shrugs> I can't even think where else to look
in Ann Arbor.

<grins at the compliment> You're welcome. It's in the Midland Mall, and
being the little helper/meddler that I am, they only hold them for 24 hours,
but they'll hold it for you through Saturday night, under your name :) It's
the only one they had, and besides, I like your dad.
