I heard a rumor that staff may give Grex a christmas present and power it
up on the new SUN over the holidays! Is this true, or just blind
pointless optimism brought on by toomuch holiday spirit?

*sigh* And it would have made such a great present from staff to
grex if that new SUN could finally be powered up. Well maybe
next christmas?

The winners of the 1997 Grex Board of Directors election are
Mark Conger (aruba), Daniel Gryniewicz (dang), Misti Tucker
(mta), and Scott Helmke (scott). Congratulations!

Full election returns are in the Coop conference, Item 62.

wow - that mail situation seems too weird.... accepting that the
vandal 'only' messed with the 'user readability' part of mail (perms
change???....owner change????...user change????) thankxxx to mdw for
the fast-fix.

i haven't moved away from mail yet so what, if any, effect will
there be with mailx .. adn then going back (if possible) to mail?

This mailx probably isn't the same as I've used elsewhere, but at a guess:
in addition to the compatibility that's the same as with mail, pine, & elm,
mailx is likely nearly compatible with mail in terms of interface. *Not* true
of mail, pine, & elm as a group.

kindof.. mailx is like /usr/ucb/Mail, not /bin/mail..
/bin/mail has a hideous interface, /usr/ucb/Mail is quite usable
and a lot more flexible from a user standpoint. /bin/mail basically
exists on most systems just to be used by sendmail as a local delivery
  agent.

I'd like to announce that there are only 5 items still unpaid for in the fall
auction. You buyers have done a great job of getting us the money - thanks.
The overall status picture looks like this:

Open: 4 items
Closed but unpaid: 5 items totalling 47.01
Paid but not delivered: 18 items totalling 259.00
Paid and delivered: 11 items totalling 154.05
                         --- -------
                          38 460.06

(The above is the output from the "query summary" command.)

Really? I haven't had any problems at all, at any time of any day, with
Grex's speed lately. It's even been running more quickly than I would like
at times....

Web addicts can see a "styled" version of the Grex bylaws at

        http://cyberspace.org/~remmers/bylaws.html

In order to see the special style effects (controlled by a
"cascading style sheet") you have to be using a browser that
supports style sheets, and you have to be sure you've turned the
style sheet option on. Then for contrast you can look at an
unstyled version of the same document at

        http://cyberspace.org/~remmers/bylaws-ns.html

Netscape 4 and MSIE 4 both support style sheets, but MSIE does
a somewhat better job of it.

<smile> I like the pauses in the morning when I'm grexxing. Usually,
there's a bit of a delay when I come to bbs, and that's when I put my socks
on. I know, it's a bit silly, but, <shrug>...<g>
