Twila- my sincerest condolences. :(
Makes my annoying ear infection seem rather trivial.

Thanks everyone. I'm back from the trip to Zanesville (which I found out is
south on route 666, hey, my assertion that it's the hellhole of the universe
may be accurate after all), and everyone in the family survived it, though
we all got *really* cranky after a while. My mother was mostly okay, though
she did break down several times, and we had some good talks. Tried to find
good memories to share with her. The funeral itself was pretty quiet, though
the dinner at the church afterward was ... under-attended. My brother's wife
and three kids, me and my family, my mom, her twin sister, and a cousin and
his wife. That's it. It felt like a very sad summing-up for a life, to me.

I've just been subponaed to appear in Marquette for a trial. Dammit. Not
my idea of a vacation, although I'm happy Matt's going with me.

*That* trial? What are you talking about?
Today got worse and worse... burned my finger so badly that it's scarred and
got into an accident going 40 mph on Jackson near the I-94 eastbound on-ramp.
Some lady realized at the last second that it wasn't the driveway for Best
Western and pulled right back out in front of me. She's fine, and I'm fine,
but the vehicles aren't fine.
On top of that, it wasn't my car. I was driving a friend's car which is
*thankfully* under full coverage. Her insurance company will pay his
deductible since she was at-fault. Yes, Michigan has a no-fault policy, but
insurance companies can petition the idiot's company for the money (it's
common).
Feh.

SARAH!!! Why the hell didn't you mention that when we saw you a few minutes
ago??????????
*HUG*
Well, funeral is on Thursday. She died early Monday morning. Deffinately
for the best, though. As an amusing sidebar, though, apperantly my uncle told
the preacher that he had 10 minutes. When his daughter-in-law said she wanted
to reada poem, he asked how long would it take her? She told him about 2-3
minutes, so he looked at the preacher and told him that he then had 7 minutes.
I can see my uncle making him stick to that too. :)

Okay Meg, when last we spoke (about 30 minutes before you posted that
response), weren't you supposed to be asleep? SHEESH! I suppose it's
true that good and bad things tend to heppen in threes. So, now, on to
three good things (fingers crossed).

I wish this dark cloud would go away. Plus I think this is mainly due to
re-introduction of a couple of drugs. Grrr. I grumpy, I go beat things up
tonight.

My LASIK (vision corrective) surgery is not healing properly. I have
little scars on my corneas. In my left eye it's continuing to scar, so
I have to go back to the place where I got the surgery. At best,
steroid eyedrops will fix it. At worst, I'd need the scars removed,
which would mean redoing the surgery only without the laser. Shit.
