Thanx indeed! Hm. Now M-Net and Grex share the same speed of connection.
If only M-Net's were as reliable!

So what is scrollback? And why is it so good for Grex?

response 158 of 172: Mark Unseen   Mar 9 00:05 UTC 1997

It means that when stuff scrolls off the top of the screen, you
can use the arrow keys to scroll the screen backwards to see
what disappeared off the top. Very useful when Grex is spewing
out lots of system messages to the console and you want to see
an earlier one.

#147:
Multi-line tels are not especially hard to create, at least not in the
sh family. Just remember to put the newline characters inside quotes.
~draven/bin/ftel is a program I whipped up awhile ago to do just that.
Of course, there's still that 1k size limit...

I installed a little program named "bs" that fixes your backspace if it is
broken.

Actually, it toggles your erase character between backspace (control-H) and
delete (DEL). Since almost everyone needs one or the other, toggling will
usually fix things if they don't work as they are. Of course, this also means
that "bs" wil break your backspace if it is working, but what the heck. At
least it's easier to type than "stty erase '^?'".

Note that this fixes things only for the current session. If you want to
permanently change your backspace, use the "change" program.

It's also a potential typo when somebody really meant to type
"bbs".

Oof, good point...

response 167 of 172: Mark Unseen   Mar 13 03:13 UTC 1997

It's not as short, but you could call it "fixbs" I suppose. Or,
if you like verbosity, "toggle_my_backspace_please".

While we all hope that Rob will change his mind one day, we have to face the
reality that he is not going to be helping us any more. Not only do we need
to fill his board seat, we need some webmaster help.

bs could ask 'Are you sure you want to change you backspace?'
