re #126: nope, it didn't even say that "The error has been logged ..."
like it used to do. i can find out the item on which i was posting
if that would help (don't remember it right now).

I'm having no problems dialing in on 3000 right now. I have my
modem set for 2400 cuz that way the text comes in slowly enuf to
be read on my screen without the use of a stupid pager.
Thanx to all for keeping us afloat!!

Hmm, when I logged in just now, it said that I had 4 failures since last
login... I WAS online for a bit this morning but didn't have any failed
attempt. So what's this '4 failures since last login.' mean?

response 134 of 364: Mark Unseen   Jul 12 20:52 UTC 1997

You personally didn't have a failed attempt, but somebody else
might have tried logging in as 'denise' a few times and failed
because they didn't know the password.

Hmm, someone else wanted to be me? Wow! [Maybe they can come on down and help
me unpack some of these boxes!]

Ah, that makes sense. I occasionally screw up my passwords.

I'm using groupie for the first time, and I have no idea what I'm missing.
This is great. one problem, though... there's no way to exit from groupie's
help program, that I could see.

I think just a blank response (cr or <-enter) did it for me.

Re #136: The question is, though, do you screw up somebody
else's passwords? :)

I'm in on ttyh4 now on my 4th attempt. First got a touch of line noise,
then nothing, second dialing got past "type help at the login prompt" but
then nothing (no login prompt), 3rd didn't even get a random '~' after
connecting, the 4th worked normally.

re 127 / 125... by geting out of vi and listing the file to see
if the changes were accomplished. then back to vi to edit some more,
totally blind, but it worked ok.

response 143 of 364: Mark Unseen   Jul 13 21:17 UTC 1997

I just dialed in on the high speed modems. When I attempted to download a
file I'd been sent, I was given a message stating that the program is only
available to dial-in users. I know there are some experiments going on here,
but Grex *shouldn't* tell dial-in people that they didn't dial in.

Yep. I followed up on the "slow" modems before I even read what you said,
and once I got a "clean" line, everything went the way it was supposed to.
