aruba has it with crimps (6)

The definitions I found interesting:

crimp (3) Function: noun Etymology: perhaps from crimp (1) Date: 1758
: a person who entraps or forces men into shipping as sailors or
  into enlisting in an army or navy

crimp (4) Function: transitive verb Date: 1812
: to trap into military or sea service : IMPRESS

impress (3)   Function: transitive verb
Etymology: in- (2) + press (3)   Date: 1596
1 : to levy or take by force for public service;
    especially : to force into naval service
2 a : to procure or enlist by forcible persuasion
  b : FORCE <impressed him into a white coat for the Christmas festivities>

I hadn't heard those definitions of crimp before.

I think I'll start a new item, since this one has passed the traditional
cutoff of 1000 responses. (Though Grex seems to be able to handle the size
OK these days; it used to be that items got incredibly slow around this
point.)

OK, item 104 in the language conference is now the 8th edition of the
6-letter word game.
