Is there anyone other than flem who's willing to be treasurer?

I'm honored to have been nominated, but I'm afraid I don't meet the minimum
age requirement to serve on the board. It looks like I am joining the
exclusive ranks of the Ineligible, along with laotzu, the yak, and the silly
hat. ;)

Your in good company. ;-)
Yeah, I thought you were a senior and, at best, just old enough.
Next time.

To answer an eearlier question, the Silly Hat is ineligible for the same
reason as most of the others on that list: not old enuf. :-)
I will send an e-mail making sure the unresponsive know they have been
nominated.

I was also fooled by coyote's online maturity (and he sure knows a lot more
than I do about music).

As a candidate I would have to say that yes, I would be willing to do
whatever necessary to find another excellent treasurer. I would even be
willing to take on the role, and do my best at it. I do think that
perhaps someone else would do better as treasurer.

Okay, November 15th having passed, no more nominations may be
submitted. The election starts December 1 and runs through
December 15. (Bylaws Article 4d)
At this point we have 7 definite candidates: eeyore, flem,
mdw, mooncat, morpheus, other, tod.
We also have 4 nominees who have neither accepted nor declined:
gibson, kaplan, russ, valerie. They should indicate definite
acceptance by the start of the election to appear on the ballot.
I think it's worth pointing out that none of the 7 candidates,
and only 1 of the 4 nominees-in-limbo, have served on the board
before. Since there are 4 open slots to fill, this means that
there will definitely be new blood on the board come January.
Thanks to scg for maintaining the running list of nominees, and
to lilmo for notifying the nominees.

This is just a reminder: if you want your vote to count in this election you
need to be a paid-up member for at least some portion of the time that the
polls are open. That means if you are currently a member but your membership
expires (or expired) before December 1st, then you need to renew in order to
vote. If you are not a member but would like to vote, you'll need to send
at least $18 (for 3 months' dues) to:
Cyberspace Communications, Inc.
P.O. Box 4432
Ann Arbor, MI 48106-4432
And please write your login on your check, or otherwise include it in the
envelope. If you pay by some method other than personal check, include a
photocopy of some form of ID.

Actually, I ran before and lost. I'd been doing mostly behind the
scenes stuff at the time and wasn't very active in the conferences,
although I can't imagine why that would hurt my name recognition
factor...

decline.

With valerie turning down the nomination, that means that *none* of the
candidates are former (or current) board members. With a board of 7, and an
incoming slate of 4 freshmen members, most of the board will be ppl who have
never served grex in that capacity before!
That being the case, I would want to hear from the candidates in their formal
statements some indicator of experience in a similar position, or of frequent
board mtg attendance as a spectator.

Heh. *I* never had any previous board-type experience. Neither had many of
our current and former board members.

Well, like I mentioned before, I was Class Treasurer for my Student Council
my Junior year of High School. I have a brain, and a healthy dose of common
sense, all wrapped up with a funky sense of humour. I appreciate when it is
time to laugh, and when it is time to be serious.

I had never had any board experience either prior to my first stint on
the Grex board. Had pretty extensive committee experience though, as
part of my job.

Voting starts December 1. That's four days from now.
There are two nominees who have neither accepted nor declined. I've
sent them mail indicating that they should affirmatively accept by Dec.
1 to appear on the ballot.
If you've voted in previous board elections, you know that the vote
program will display an "election statement" from each candidate. I've
emailed the candidates instructions on how to create a statement file.
