Conferences have *never* been a place to hold personal
discussions. You have no idea of who is reading it and
where it is going and this has always been true here on
Grex. Mail would be a better choice for such discussions
although even that isn't perfect.

No, I'm not shy at the moment. I really don't care who sees what I say.

If one were to be registered as !shy, would all of one's previous posts be
hidden as well? (Yes, I'm a poet too.)

ai'm afraid that ai didn't get it, either, creole...

Creole's #92 was a joke, but it was also a perfect demonstration of
why the "shy" option doesn't address the concerns of some who objected
to unregistered reading.

The concern isn't that "shy" users would be framed, but rather that
information about "shy" people would be echoed in non-shy responses,
just in the ordinary conversational response flow.

That feature will not expose shy much or often, unless extensive quoting
takes place. On the other hand, this feature will probably lead a lot of
unregistered readers to register, to gt "in on the joke" (or, whatever).

Or, possibly, to give up in disgust at what seem like pointless postings.

So? What's wrong with that?

Yes, the idly curious will leave, and the more intelligent and curious
may register. But, we can speculate forever - let's find out.

Ya know, if you'd summarize all the friend-related responses
and web-related responses, that list would shrink a lot (and
be more meaningful for most people). Interesting that the
www.mcs.com/~kmiles/banned-g.htm response lists cyberspace.org
as a place to read banned newsgroups...wonder how old that list
is?

phew! that is a sobering list, for sure. yes, i scrolled the whole thing.

neat results valerie, thankxxx

hm... my plan doesn't specify anymore since I redesigned it, but I found out
while I was on m-net... shortly thereafter I switched over (I'm starting to
sound like one of those commercials where reallife people profess their belief
in a product *g*), and sometimes I go to m-net, but not a whole lot anymoe....
I find it interesting that grex was the preset option on win95's telnet
program.

Oh, my. I hope that pre-set isn't my doing. I use grex to verify
network card operation at work sometimes when I am building a new
system, or fixing one. Hmmm.....

<<i can just ... well, no i can't imagine all the win95 buyers & clickers
checking out all their 'presets' and deluging grex ... but if i *could*
imagine that, someone would classify the vision as a nightmare, i think.>>
