I just got email that I'm really not prepared to deal with right now...or
ever, for that matter. Blecch.
My thoughts to you and your dad, Twila. <hugs>

I just found out that I can't get paid for my job until I fill out
paperwork. When I was first hired, I asked boss point blank "Do I need
to fill out an I-9 or anything?" and was told "probably not, this one
form should take care of everything." Well, the one form didn't. Now I
need to remember to get my passport when I go home, then fill out the
I-9, and 2 other forms.
I'm also pissed at the U.S. Government, who has said that when filling
out an I-9, a voter registration card does not establish employment
eligibility. You have to be a U.S. citizen to be able to register, so
that should be enough to establish eligibility. Instead, it's listed
under "documents that establish identity" Pointless, because it
contains no picture, no identifying information, etc.

I think I was able to fill mine out with a drivers license and social security
card, after panicing when I realized that my passport was in a filing cabinet
that the movers had.

Yes, DL and Social Security card would have worked, however, I didn't
have my Social Security card with me either (I've memorized the number,
1 less piece of paper to lose). They also wouldn't accept my Selective
Service registration card.

Well, I seem to be working on getting an ear infection. I hate ear
infections. I never got them as a kid, my first was when I was 19- so
why now?

I was the same way, Anne, I never got them as a kid and I had up to 5
in one year when I was in my early 20s. Turns out my tonsils had been
the culprit. Do you still have your tonsils?

Well, due to the fluxuation in the weather (Temp and humidity) it really
messes up my ears and sinuses. I just take drugs, lots and lots of drugs.

Trisha- yeah... still have tonsils. The doctors wanted to take them
out the year I had tonsilitis three times in three months, but ended up
deciding not to.
So far ear is a dull ache, but it's throwing my balance off.

More "anger" than "bummed." The ChemLawn guy just showed up and dumped
a bunch of chemicals on our yard -- a service we didn't order and don't want.
He was lost -- he thought he was on Huron St. when he was really
on Miller.

you should send them an invoice for all the damage they did to your lawn. Now
you lawn will die and never be the same.

You should demand that they come back and replant all of your rare and exotic
dandelions.

(I can just see the truck spraying a mash of straw and "weed" seeds on your
lawn, along with some grubs. I'm with you. If that happened to me I'd be
quite upset too. The lawn would also all turn brown.)

re:113
You know, they did that to my dad's lawn, so he called them up and threatened
to put a lawsuit against them for being lawn nazis and creating a
hortocultural hollocaust of our back yard... I don't know how it turned out,
but it was really funny to us at the time.

When the I-9 was first published, I had to argue, hard, to get my passport
accepted as proof of both identity and citizenship: the poor folks really
thought you needed *two* documents.

Utility room sink overflowed when the drain got covered by a rag and the
washing machine was running. 1/4" of water on the floor before I noticed.

Anne, I'm baffled they did not take out your tonsils then! Yikes. The
surgery is pure hell, but I can say it has been worth it. I feel so
much better and am less tired. Those suckers were poisoning me.
My heat is not working, and I'm cold.
Sad, strange conversation with a friend that has left me confused and
full of possibility all at once.

So, I know I should be upset that MSU lost yesterday, but I can take
comfort in the fact the UofM lost too.
And the Bluejackets lost their first game after coming out strong
through the 1st period. (It wa 3-0 Jackets with more than half the
first period left)
