BROCKTON, Massachusetts. (AP) -- A 6-year-old boy is getting a lesson on the
meaning of sexual harassment long before he'll be able to spell it.

The first-grader was suspended for three days for sexual harassment after he
put two fingers inside a classmate's waistband, school officials told his
mother, Berthena Dorinvil. The boy told her he only touched the girl's shirt
after the girl touched him.

...There have been similar cases. In 1996, a New York second-grader was
suspended for kissing a girl and ripping a button off her skirt -- an idea
the boy said he got from his favorite book "Corduroy," about a bear with a
missing button. Earlier that year, a Lexington, North Carolina, 6-year-old
was separated from his class after kissing a classmate on the cheek.

I'm sure George Deutsch can be replaced with another incompetent-but-
ideologically-pure person, preferably some young kid who thinks he knows
everything.

I guess we'll also have to ban books about missing buttons or blouses.

George Deutsch, a presidential appointee in NASA headquarters, told a Web
designer working for the agency to add the word "theory" after every mention
of the Big Bang, according to an e-mail message from Mr. Deutsch that another
NASA employee forwarded to The Times.

Is Deutsch the Himmler of the GW Admin Club?

I think the Grex BoD should require that every staff member add the word
"theory" after every diagnostic claim of the cause of system problems...

"We are excluded from sending e-mail to yahoo because of the blackhole
list theory"

or

"We believe last night's crash was due to the memory problem theory"

Honestly, I don't know what's up lately with Deutsch. Has it been on the news
or something?
I just know that he's been one of the folks trying to squelch global warning
data from the public's eye.

Here's a more thorough coverage - and opinionated - article about George
Deutsch. 24? And telling scientific managers what they can and can't say?
And a prosletizer of "intelligent design"?

"In October, for example, George Deutsch, a presidential appointee in NASA
headquarters, told a Web designer working for the agency to add the word
"theory" after every mention of the Big Bang, according to an e-mail
message from Mr. Deutsch that another NASA employee forwarded to The
Times."

"... The Big Bang memo came from Mr. Deutsch, a 24-year-old presidential
appointee in the press office at NASA headquarters whose rsum says he was
an intern in the "war room" of the 2004 Bush-Cheney re-election campaign.
A 2003 journalism graduate of Texas A&M, he was also the public-affairs
officer who sought more control over Dr. Hansen's public statements."

"... The Big Bang is "not proven fact; it is opinion," Mr. Deutsch wrote,
adding, "It is not NASA's place, nor should it be to make a declaration
such as this about the existence of the universe that discounts
intelligent design by a creator." It continued: "This is more than a
science issue, it is a religious issue. And I would hate to think that
young people would only be getting one-half of this debate from NASA. That
would mean we had failed to properly educate the very people who rely on
us for factual information the most."

Editor's note: George Deutsch got his job at NASA was a reward for being a
loyal young republican. Otherwise, based on his reported comments in this
and other articles - and I'm just guessing folks - but it would seem that
he did not take very many science classes in college - political science
perhaps. Not exactly the ideal background for someone whose job it is to
communicate science. Perhaps we can get George to detail his background
for us - and why he thinks that he knows more about the topic than the
people who actually do the research.

Personally I think George is in over his head. Based on the quotes in this
article he is pursuing his own personal political/religious agenda - at
taxpayer expense. What's even more annoying is the fact that George seems
to have been operating without any adult supervision by NASA PAO - or has
the White House really directed NASA to do the things that George has been
doing?."

In over his head? How can you say that abbout a GW appointee?!
Just look at the great job FEMA's Brown did with Katrina! I mean, c'mon!
And look at that lady GW sent to the UN Assembly to propose restrictions on
abortion! Hey, these are superstars!

Re #13: that article is a bit out of date. Turns out that George Deutsch
claimed on his application that he had a degree in journalism from Texas
A&M, but in reality he dropped out. He has resigned his position, so
now there's a position open for some cocky kid who has very little
education but thinks he knows more about science than real scientists.

Deutsch at NASA reminds me of the old Soviet system, where there
was a Communist Party officer installed in most organizations to
be sure that the staff were appropriately loyal to the party and its
ideology.
tod
response 18 of 25: Mark Unseen   Feb 9 23:04 UTC 2006

All the officers were in the Party. The loyalty and enthusiasm came from
KNOWING they were working with two cans and a string but wanting to throw
their weight around to compete on who was the biggest patriot.

I'd also venture to say that much of the Soviet disinformation came from those
on the payrolls of the CIA whom felt they would serve their country while
collecting large sums of traitor funds. It worked out for both sides since
it improved LeMay and Bill Casey's bottom line.
