Not only has it run out of tactics besides name-calling, it's unable
to come up with anything that's not blatantly obvious or laughably
off-target. Even for a theater of the absurd, it's a very short
run and a sorry end to a show.

It seems that sabre's remaining synapse is dying of loneliness. I
guess he'll soon occupy a plot in the graveyard of the twitlist.

I just wish we had one of the classic assholes from m-net. The younger
breed never was all that amusing. They mostly just spent a lot of time
ranting and then when cornered said "oh I don't take this seriously", despite
the time and effort they so lovingly put into it. The classic assholes had
character.

Has anyone been able to compile the current release of transcode?
Its the only thing missing in getting the dvdtools working so I can
write DVDs.

I noticed sabre's frequent use of "buttfucking" and "faggot". Could it
be that ..... ?? As a kid ....... never mind.

The ocean the current generation of m-netters is drowning in would
barely wet the soles of Orange Gopher's boots. My personal favorite
razor-fighter was named Julie Bender. But I think she -- um, what's
the term? -- grew up.

Orange Gopher was original. Julie Bender was... special. Supposedly, she
once told an elderly Jewish man at a deli that she wished the Nazis had gotten
him too (because he got annoyed at her for cutting in line). Hopefully, she
either grew up or got medicated.

I kinda liked Mythago, especially for her "the only thing you need to
know about my sexuality is I don't want to fuck YOU." line.

Mythago was cool. I knew her ftf -- I'm the one who introduced her to M-Net,
in fact.

That's kinda been my point-- if you're going to insult, do it with
style and wit.

response 14 of 64: Mark Unseen   Jul 7 01:59 UTC 2003

I thought she was cool, too. But tell us, is "the only thing you need
to know about my sexuality is I don't want to fuck YOU" style, or is it
wit?

Hmmmm...which would be more odious? Style without wit, or wit without style?

        Wit without style.

Style without wit is just cold.

Good guess. She has a strange sense of humor. (Or at least she used to; I
don't have much contact with her now.)

I met mythago only once during the M-Net days. It was at the tenth
anniversary M-Net bash, and my impression of her was quite consistant with
her on-line persona. But she was an attractive young woman in a pavillion
full of lonely geeks. A certain amount of hostility probably helps thin
the ranks of speechless gaping geeks hovering around you. I've met her
a couple times after that, after she had crossed the great divide into
parenthood, but it was in a very different social context - small numbers
of friends in a private setting surrounded by clouds of babys and toddlers.
She seemed much mellower, but then, who wouldn't?

Rats took the hostility a level higher, I thought. But I still enjoyed
having her in the conferences. The occasional geyser of scalding water
blasting though the room certainly keeps people on their toes.
